Re: Magnetic vs. ball-joint rod ends [poll]

Marty!, your not thinking 4th dimensionally...... Get a small bench top injection molding machine and over mold the magnet and rod at the same time. Wouldn't take much of a mold to do it either, just need a simple fixture to get the length right when you over mold the opposite end. Well there goes m...

Re: PVA filamet

the pva filament produces way to much ash for investment casting. It reminds me of those magic snakes sold in fire works stores. I have some mold lay here finally, but have not had the time to do any testing of it.

Re: Yet to successfully print an item of real intent

Mike, It was good talking to you tonight. I havent been on here much lately as I have been spending alot of time other forum lately. That and things evolve so fast with the 3d printing that I really cant keep up with it. I hesitate to even comment about what may be going on, but I do have to ask wha...

Re: Real wax filament interested? Video added!

Is there any progress on this? I'd like to be able to print my own candles. That would be amazing. Also, is this stuff actually rated for candles? I've seen some "wax-like" filaments that are intended for casting, but I don't care about that. I just want to make candles & make sure th...

Re: Real wax filament interested? Video added!

Did they say when they were going to release the product? I am super excited about this, as I'm interested in making metal parts that I can machine later and this is a very good way to make molds. I could use PLA, but I've never gotten PLA to work well on my machine. If there is enough response and...

WANT. WANT NOW! :D Come on man, details! What temp does it print at, etc? :) g. Im finding it prints well at 130C but may bump the temp just a bit to 135C as im seeing a bit of layer seperation on larger prints. Im still figuring out a few things with how to print with it, so ive been doing 200 mic...

Re: Real wax filament interested?

What do you think of microwave melting aluminium? Not much really. Its a neat idea but not really practical. You can build a small electric furnace pretty easily if your worried about the "dangerous propane" that would be good for small melts. Them again you can melt aluminum over a good ...

Re: CAM software

KAS, "it depends"! Most 2-1/2D CAM packages I've used do not import STL - there really isn't that much need to. Most files are exported from CAD as DXF that is input into CAM. The true 3D and 3D with a 4th axis do usually import STLs. I advocate learning a little manual machining first. I...
