Re: 0.92 Firmware Upgrade for HE280...Any tips?

I was able to get it working with tweaks to the firmware, but auto-calibration was still useless. I would auto-calibrate and then upon printing it would come down high on the plate. There are also some issues in firmware with regard to my motors, I have the old motors which require a different curre...

0.92 Firmware Upgrade for HE280...Any tips?

My 3 year old machine is ready for an update, any tips doing this upgrade on an Orion? I'm getting all the new parts in place, getting ready to do the firmware upgrade. I did read that I might have to alter the firmware for the 1mm longer ball joint arms. Anything else to consider or will the auto-c...

Re: Orion heated bed...

I think I finally found out my problem. I believe that the fans from the computer used for 3D Printing were causing a draft near that side of the bed causing a cooling area unlike the right side of the bed. The plots so far are do not seem to be as problematic. Norm77... That would probably do it. ...

CarlC,

You mgiht want to play around with a raft for your prints. I've had a lot fewer adhesion issues with the raft. Even with hairspray my regular prints will sometimes curl.

Re: AutoCAD stl files...

3D in AutoCAD??? First thing I might say is get yourself a free student copy of Inventor.

Also have you tried to slice it with another program, what are you using now? I actually use Cura 90% of the time because it's super quick. For tricky stuff I might fire up repetier host w/ slic3r.

Re: Power supply noise

Yeah same here. Been running for a while with no long term ill effects although I suspect someday it will die. I did heatsink the chips on my RAMBO board just to be extra safe. Are you sure it's the PSU fan and not the other interior fan?

Re: Z hieght

Thanks brbubba, I'll check that out. When I transport it I just wanted to the extruded to get into position to check the z height with a simple command. From the old firmware I would connect repetier, home the towers, then use the LCD menu to jog head down into position. Once it's set send command ...

Re: Thermals and the Rambo

I have used the Antec ceramic non-conductive epoxy to glue these on since my Gen7. Be warned it is as permanent of a mounting solution that is out there. Works fabulous, chip heat worries are null and void. I added a fan to the door of the MAX just because I had one laying around. Never needed it. ...

Re: Z hieght

The 0.91 firmware has an LCD menu feature that lets you calibrate the Z height very quickly. Even with Reptier doing it you can just setup a script, don't know what "setup" you are referring to?

Re: Update: Early release of official 091 firmware

Is it possible that the delta radius could have been affected by the firmware upgrade? I'm continually getting the center and outsides as being off, as in the center puts down almost no plastic and outside of a 1.5" diameter it lays down a perfect bead. Tried to do individual leg height calibra...

Thanks for the info, using those RAM heatsinks isn't such a bad idea. I might have to pick some up, already have thermal adhesive compound, just make sure to not F it up as the surface is so small.

Main Fan Failing

My main interior fan has been sounding pretty bad recently and today it stopped completely. I'll eventually get around to replacing it but I'm more wondering about how the RAMBO board will hold up. I've used a RAMBO board before and never seen any mention of a need for cooling, but it also wasn't in...

Re: Update: Early release of official 091 firmware

Wow, kept putting this off because I thought it was going to take me a long time. I think it took me 15 minutes max. First issue I ran into was the Z height. Copied the old one just like the video and after I started up a job on the new firmware the head crashed. It was only off like 3 mm max. Don't...

Re: Solid layer issue on my Orion

I have been neglecting my Orion trying to get my Max configured, so now it is time to ignore my max to get my Orion configured. So I had some success with the .5 nozzle. I went back to the .35 nozzle and the tops still looked really sparse. After many calibration cubes it came down to if I want to ...

Re: Best way to print a cover with a box, supporting structu

Based on your picture it looks like you could just flip it around, but maybe there's something I'm not seeing. If you do need support material there should be options in your slicing program of choice to auto generate it. On complex pieces I recommend checking the paths first to make sure it was sli...

Re: Arms Don't Line Up with Metal Legs

Considering all Orions are properly calibrated before they're shipped, I'm kind of confused as to why you'd try to "recalibrate" it in the first place. g. UPS beat the crud out of it when I received it, so I had to do Z height calibration and I also did calibration for each leg with the s...

Re: Arms Don't Line Up with Metal Legs

Look at your printer straight on from the LCD display side. Only the rear post (Y) is "straight" on the Y axis. The front two posts are not directly on an axis, but are 120 degrees offset. Therefore, if you send the printer to "Yxx X0", it will line up with the rear upright. But...

Arms Don't Line Up with Metal Legs

Just managed to recalibrate this guy to work properly and the model sizes seem ok, but all the recent stuff I've printed could have been off to begin with. Anyway, I'm at a loss as to what's happening here (Pictures Attached). At Y60 the leg lines up perfectly, at X60 it doesn't line up and at X-60 ...

I doubled the part size and it worked just fine. Still not sure why the smaller PLA vs ABS worked or didn't work, maybe it had something to do with my PLA settings. :?:

Re: Orion PLA Tips

It may be due to the ABS shrinkage that it fits with ABS and not PLA.... Also ABS has a bit more give than PLA and maybe thats playing a part? Doh, didn't think of that. The part could have been designed for ABS taking into account the shrinkage. Therefore trying to make it with PLA could have thro...
