You can salvage ribbon ferrite sleeve things out of those scanner copier printers, I got a few out of two I just salvaged the other day.

Re: My RosBot build made it to top ten in Misumi contest
The rails do add a some rigidity to the frame, however if I grabbed the top and lightly shook it back and forth it would move so much and if I tried to apply a twisting force it was way too easy to twist as well. I know there wont be much twisting force when printing but there will for sure be some ...

Re: My RosBot build made it to top ten in Misumi contest
Well I've spent about 1,000 but there was some stuff I didn't use. I have to figure out the BOM to know for sure. I'm hoping to run a kickstarter or indiegogo to offer it as kits if I can find good suppliers.

Why shouldn't you use solid core wire? Just wondering cause I'm using it on my RosBot build as we speak.

Re: Clunking Noise???
typically that clunk is it doing a rapid move, but a tiny one.. if you have your rapid speeds high, and it changes the perimeter it will clunk like that when it does the small movement to the next row... I've seen it a lot.. its like a super fast, small travel that doesnt need a retract, so it just...

Clunking Noise???
When my printer is doing really small areas like around corners with a screw hole it makes this kinda clunking noise, it sounds really strange and only does it on these small areas where it is starting and stopping the filament flow really fast. I cant seem to catch it in a way that allows me to mak...

Re: X axis not responding
Well this was my first 3d printer, building my second now, but there wasn't any documentation about the "right" amount of tension to put on the belts, it was just tension the belt until you think it is good lol. So it wouldn't surprise me if I do have too much tension on the belts, they ar...

Re: X axis not responding
Well I knew something was wrong with one of the steppers as it would make a clunking sound that started about 2 or 3 weeks ago but I was not able to figure out which one it was, when the stepper stopped driving the axis I was pretty sure it was a dead stepper but to make sure I took one of my extra ...

Re: RosBot V 1.0
How's the progress on this looking? What are you doing for your linear motion? Actual linear bearings? Are you going with a belt driven system? I am almost finished with the build for my prototype, I have all the printed parts finalized except for my hot end mount(currently working on that as we sp...

Re: X axis not responding
Well, it was the stepper motor, built this in October 2013, wouldn't think the motors would go so fast! I only have 18 days 3 hours 50 minutes of printing time on it according to the firmware. Oh well, at least it wasn't something too major and I had some Kysan steppers just sitting around!

X axis not responding
I was in the middle of a print and all of a sudden I heard a sound that sounded like something falling of my table and hitting the floor and my X stepper stopped working! I immediately stopped by print so a not to waste filament and prevent the nozzle from driving into the glass like it was starting...

Nothing too big here, just wondering if anyone knows of a source for these little razor blades that go into this knife. If anyone knows where please let me know, I love this thing, got it from a friend and almost all the blades are dull and dead now so I need new ones. Thanks for the help! :D IMG_00...

Re: How much to build a Rostock MAX?
Hah! Well you all have convinced me. I'm really one of those guys who figures "I'll just build it myself", but in this case it's just easier and cheaper to get a kit (especially with warranty, support, and an active user group!). Plus, right now I don't know much about 3d printers, so bet...

Or you could just keep it as is and have a cool little container!

Re: How much to build a Rostock MAX?
If you're serious, go through the entire assembly manual and collate all the parts and hardware into a shopping list. Figure out where to source each part from and how much it will cost to do so, including shipping if you can't find it locally. Ramps 1.4+Arudino Mega+Drivers will be cheaper than Ra...

Re: How much to build a Rostock MAX?
Yeah, I know the idea of building and sourcing it yourself seems cool but for the first one I would go with a kit like the MAX v2. Trust me, I am designing my own printer and had to source all the parts and bits and pieces on my own and purchasing from so many different vendors is such a pain and so...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
I had actually bought the same one when I first got my Max back in October 2013, I have just become a custom to zeroing it out before each measure, as long as I zero it out it is pretty accurate so because of that and the fact that I'm a cheap bastard I continue to use it. Lol Can we nickname you C...
