Re: Operation "stick to the damn glass ya bastard!" (AU)

I apply the maple syrup while the plate is on the machine. I use a hair dressers bottle with a fine tip then just squirt some on and spread it around.

Bonus is that when the print is done, you can just lick the base clean!

Re: Operation "stick to the damn glass ya bastard!" (AU)

Ok I've tried these, and here they are in order of effectiveness. 1. Glue stick in water (about 1cm of glue stick in 2cm of water in the bottom of a salsa jar). However this didn't seem to work for Esun pink filament for some reason.... In fact nothing but ABS slurry worked for that. Weird. I will s...

Infill gaps and non-circular holes

Is this a belt issue? It's actually one of two issues I'm having right now, the second is that I'm getting wavy outer walls - and I've noticed it's less of an issue with smaller objects, perhaps an outer perimete...

Feel free to post those here since you're just asking them. It's not really troubleshooting since you don't have a machine yet :)

A Rostock kit is a pretty awesome way to get your hands dirty in 3D printing, you'll end up with a nice machine at the end.

Re: On the plus side, REALLY good first-layer adhesion...

Yeah when I switched to watered-down glue stick I printed a large flat object and pulled of a pieced just like this.... Then it was downhill from there. I swapped to a new plate last week or so (the benefits of having stock eh?) and so far there's been none of it. I wrote it off as being an old plat...

Re: Welcome to Australia

Yeah I'm glad I'm around, took me a day or so to fully realise that I actually was still alive. Sounds odd, but getting out alive felt so surreal that I wasn't sure I actually had.

I even went to the beach and caught some waves with only slight nervousness. All is good, life is good.

Re: Canola Convert

Sesame oil is my recommendation. I has NO advantage over other oils, just smells awesome :)

I worked out through a long 100+ hour print set that 2 drops lasted me about 8 hours. So once in the morning, then once in the afternoon, then one before bed. Just like the doctor ordered.

Welcome to Australia

Hello everyone! The purpose of this subforum is to allow Aussies and Kiwi's to connect with each other, talk about South Pacific topics (especially relating to 3D printing) and help each other out. This shouldn't be a replacement to the regular forums, but a fun place to just chat about Ausse/NZ stu...

Re: Why all the rage for PLA?

PLA is my choice. It's way easier to get to stick to the bed, it smells nice, doesn't shrink (much) and requires lower temps. However, it is a little more finicky in the hot-end and sometimes jams (basically it's toffee). If you can sort out any hot-end issues you might have (I just do the old drop ...

Re: Bed adhesion trick for cheap high gloss finish.

I can attest to the impressiveness of this method. Not only does it hold really well, but when you lift parts off it doesn't even seem to lift the glue (like when using a regular glue stick) and so it's usable again!

Awesome find there Shapeshifter!

Re: PLA prints splitting as they cool.

What infill percentage are you using? There's usually not any reason to go above 15%. The more infill, the more stress on the part.

A video on finding the perfect filament temp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POaL2GGBHGM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's a short one :) but hopefully is helpful in tuning the myriad of filaments / brands you've got laying around.

Cheers.

Impressive. How heavy is it and does it affect your print speeds? Love these awesome envelope-pushing mods!

* oops, look like my question was asked just before this :)

I suppose having the upgraded arms would counteract the extra weight also.

Re: Impossible print failure?????

Not sure about scaling issue, but make sure all your power off settings on your laptop are turned off. Laptops are great to print from since you can recover a print even with a total power failure :) Aside from that... Are you sure that 200c isn't too hot for that filament? Looks like it's having so...
