Yup. The S3D guys do a pretty good job at coming up with default profiles. I always start there first. Keep an eye on filament diameter. Not sure what I have set on my profiles. I print with Filament Central white most often and that stuff is more like 1.73-1.75mm.

Here are my default profiles for ABS and PLA. I usually get started there and tweak a few things depending on the part. Bed prep: Usually just hairspray. I rarely use purple stick elmers unless is a very big part. Most of the time I print PLA. As for ABS, The enclosed build chamber really works well...

That's the drawback with 3D PDFs. It's Adobe's technology which means that most other readers cannot display them. If someone has Adobe Reader installed (most do) then you're good to go.

I've been making 3d pdfs for several years. I use SimLab Soft Composer. However, I have been slowly moving in the WebGL direction lately.

Pull one piece thru the cylinder and expose just the tip. Light it and pull the filament half way down. Immediately push a cold piece into the hole and apply pressure to both pieces. Hold it for a few seconds and pull it thru the cylinder. Takes a little practice but you'll get thing of it.

I built a filament joiner last year out of an aluminum rod with a .063 hole in it. Just like mhackney, use a lighter to heat and fuse together.

I ordered a tablet, keyboard, and a 4 port usb hub in case I want to plug in other things.

Alright, thanks KAS. I was thinking about getting another laptop to for use with cnc work. I've seen the See Me guys use a tablet but I've never really paid attention to what they were doing with it. It's a shame there aren't more android options. I have a gazillion of those tablets/phones lying aro...

Try the new Onshape. Free and nothing to install...and nothing to update. It's still in beta but you can model parts and assy's. I've been using it on and off for a couple of weeks.

Great question. I had a process down that took me 5-10 minutes to get my towers adjusted. It required a dial indicator and a final tweak of the horizontal radius. I could get things within .001" from center to all 3 towers. What got me fed up with it all is that I had to do this often...about e...
