Re: Another E3Dv6 joins the ranks!
Get a crimping tool? Seriously the JSTs work just fine. There is enough friction grip with them if you relieve wire stress. If you really must use something else there are several types of connectors from the RC airplane and heli world out there. Most of them are JST-like but with soldered connectio...

Re: Print Failure on second layer
I think the Z height is not 100% accurate because I see the bead drop a tiny bit before sticking to the print surface. Your first layer should not 'drop' at all. It should be squished to the bed. This could cause your second layer not to adhere to the first causing what you are seeing. The inner co...

Articulated Dragon
I found this a few days ago on thingiverse. The post is several months old but I thought it was really cool. This single print has forced me to get my printer pretty well dialed in and has taught me several things about 3D printing. Several pieces are already assembled to test fit: Head(2x), neck(7x...

Re: Voronai Your STL Files Online
I have this bookmarked from reddit already. I have printed some voronoi but have not used it for anything I have done yet. I think the style is very organic, very interesting for some things. Voronoi prints will test the limit of your calibrations! My first experience was mediocre. But I have this t...

Re: Excessive stringing
I know this is an old post but I am going to add my two cents anyway. Set your non print move speed higher. I have set mine to 250mm/s with 4mm retraction for some black MakerShed ABS I got. Of course this is not the only setting you need to adjust. You still need to calibrate your temp, heated bed ...

Re: I might have the only Rostock that caught on fire! :(
And this is exactly why I dragged that damn heavy data center metal cabinet all the way home from work. It may not stop the fire completely but it will give me some extra time to either put it out before major damage or get out completely.

DC cab printer enclosure
OK I dragged home a metal datacenter cabinet(29"x32"x72") to use for a general purpose printer enclosure. It has a vented rear door and a smoked plexiglass front door. Both side panels are solid and removable. It is also vented on top. In the DC you can put a 4x4 fan rig to pull air u...

Re: Heat up your bed 21.5% faster for pennies.
What about reflecting heat up from the bottom by insulating the heat pad itself? I am hesitant to put anything on during a print cycle and then forget to take it off. When I am printing I usually just start the bed heat manually while I am slicing or doing other prep stuff. It is the first thing I w...

Got mine today too. Finish looks oh soooo good. Put together with my E3D Lite it looks pretty great. Fit of the groove mount is tight! Very good tolerance. I was expecting a much bigger mount for some reason. Its so tiny! The only issue I saw was the carbon fiber support tubes. The mounting holes ar...

Re: You want to use thermal paste for what?
Built dozens of PCs. Worked on hundreds. I think this would be fine as long as you are sure it wont damage the materials being used. The aluminum? Yeah no problem. Maybe do a test patch on the heat pad/plate? What is the heater made of? I dont think it would damage it but test it for several days on...

Re: Raspberry pi octoprint issues
I actually gave up on Octoprint. I could not get my wifi dongle to work no matter what I tried even though it is on the RPi hardware list. I installed Repetier server, latest version after installing a base Raspian install. It works like a charm. Wifi works. I have printed successfully. Set up my m...

If you have reset manually and checked the eeprom then it sounds like matter control has a default hard set somewhere?
In MatterControl - Settings/Printer/General what is your build height set to?

Re: MatterControl Automatic Bed Leveling Problem
Not familiar with the matter control auto stuff but you probably just need to manually set the z level from the LCD on the printer. The build manual covers this on initial set up.
Basically use LCD to lower effector. Manually set effector to bed level using knob. Set z. done.

So the hot-end goes through the keyhole and slides to the center, and then the smaller wooden piece clamps on it from above to retain it from sliding. Are the TrickLaser pictures more clear? http://tricklaser.com/J-Head-Groove-Mount-for-Rostock-MAX-RM-JHGMNT.htm" onclick="window.open(this...
