Any opinions on this?
On more of a basic level, are you not supposed to edit a gcode file, like a text file? Maybe the printer doesn't recognize edits somehow.

M117 message not working
Hey I've added in some manual temp adjustments to the gcode of a calibration tower, and included the following statements at each temp jump. But the message does not appear on the LCD, nor does the Beep, well "beep". Printer: Rostock v2, Firmware 0.92.2 M117 Setting temp: 240 M300 S300 P10...

Re: Help with EZStruder Jumping
After troubleshooting lots of settings and cleaning the hot end several times, I've concluded that the old material I was using is the cause of this issue. It was a spool I got by mistake several years ago and it sat with the package open the whole time. It's no good anymore. New spool is printing f...

Well its not the retraction settings.
This seems to be speed related. As the slower areas do not cause the skipping. My speed settings are:
This seems to be speed related. As the slower areas do not cause the skipping. My speed settings are:
- Print Speed = 60
Travel Speed = 50
Bottom Layer = 30
outer shell = 25
infill, top/bottom & inner shell all have 0 (meaning they inherit the 60 speed)

Help with EZStruder Jumping
Hi folks. Been out of this for a while. I'm back in trying some test prints with PLA (200noz, 80bed, on glass) and for the single layer 75mm disc test the EZStruder is skipping every couple of seconds. The test seemed to print ok. Video here Cura 15.04.6 settings .3 layer height .5 shell 60 Print Sp...

3D scans from a Metrologic MS7120
Hey I was cleaning up the garage today and found these two bar code scanners I bought years ago. I wondered if anyone knew of a way to 'hack' these to make a cheap 3D laser scanner?? Seems like it might have the right stuff. Meaning it's small, omnidirectional and it's a laser scanner, LOL. In the c...

switching spools mid print
Probably a basic question (which I love getting in my working day), but is there a 'process' for switching a spool of material mid print? Or is this not possible and never to be mentioned again.. LOL
If it matters, I have the RoStock Max V2 and typically print in ABS.
Thanks

PID values for HotEnd
Hi Folks. I put my new power supply in (still just 12v at this point for everything). I was in the Assy Guide that came with the printer and decided to do the PID calibrations again for the HotEnd and Heated Bed. The Hotend values were way above the values in the manual... Plus the 'output extruder'...

Rostock v2 - New Power Supply?
Hi guys. My printer wont turn on today and it looks to be the 12v power supply. This is not the supplied 12v power supply that came with my unit (450watt). But rather an upgraded model that provided more power. It's a XION 600w (XON-600F-14R-201) which has worked for several years. I tried powering ...

Re: How-to: Dimensional Accuracy Calibration for Delta Printers
Sorry for being a complete moron, but can someone validate my "lingo" conversion to cura 15.04.6 settings? - Layer height : 0.1 - 0.2mm is fine, the shorter the better. Same in Cura, LAYER HEIGHT - Extrusion width : Your nozzle width plus a little extra. Is this SHELL THICKNESS, or NOZZLE ...

I hired a modeler from Italy and it was approx $75 USD. Which was okay for me as this was above my skill level and now I have a model in case the owner of that business wants more (larger or smaller).

Re: REQUEST: Modeler needed
Just to conclude this post.. I was reminded of the site UpWork.com and posted a job to make this model. The artist worked on this on/off all week and now the model has been printed... TaDa..
And once again I reminded of what a great world this is. From thought to reality, it can be done..

REQUEST: Modeler needed
I was wondering if anyone feels like helping make a model of a logo from a friends car wash. This is the webpage and attached is the logo. My modeling skills are a bit sad (from scratch anyway). http://www.sudzguy.com/ The water is not needed. Or if there is a better website for requests like this, ...

Re: Max v3 enclosure finally done
Very nice. I'm going to tackle this print and assembly this weekend. Have we confirmed these parts will work for a V2 as well? How about the heater setup you mentioned. Can you provide a little more detail on what components you used and where you mounted everything? I assume you would want a temp s...

Thanks guys for the forum and the suggestion to oil the axles. I have had the same issue as Edward and this solved it.
Now on to take a gander at those upgrades. Unlike Clark Griswold, I'm buying 3D printer parts with my xmas bonus, not putting in a swimming pool. Video

Oh. well thats easy to change. I think there was a previous post that caused me to reduce the temp to 215. You have to be a 'tweeker' with this hobby dont you?

Print #2 went much better. But still split in a couple of places.
My house temp in that room is 74 degrees. Is this just a cooling issue that an enclosure might fix? I dont print many long prints like this (7hrs)

ABS splitting by unknown force
I have this model where I combined This model and a custom speaker shelf. I've tried to print this twice now and the model splits at the lower portion of the circle, right where all of those air channels are. I understand that is the 'weak area', but I fail to understand what is pulling UP on the mo...

Weight versus length
Hi guys. Been a while since I posted my normal basic topics.. Here's another one. Whats the length of material on the SeeMeCNC .5kg spool (1.75 ABS)?? When I load a model in Cura it tells me how much length is required, and I'm not sure how much the .5KG holds. On another note, if a print is happeni...

As far as bed adhesion - Make the ABS slurry. It's awesome. One of my prints actually stuck too good and pulled chunks of the glass off with it...
