Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

And yes, it's holding steady still, printing right now with a .4mm nozzle again. Feels good to have my resolution back.
I've got a backlog of projects to get printed, these rockets won't build themselves!

Re: Keep needing higher and higher temp settings. Max V2

Well, I can happily report it seems to be going 'normal' now. Even extruding through my .4mm at a setting of 225c I think reducing the retract measurement was potentially the big factor there. Some cold-pulls to clear it out, and it's actually extruding very nicely now. I'm also surprised I wasn't b...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Tried multiple rolls, same issue across the board. About half the wire between the thermistor and the rambo has been changed. Yesterday I did multiple cold-pulls to clean out any contamination, and re-seated all connections on the thermistor circuit. Seems ok for the moment. Very confusing as I've d...

Re: Keep needing higher and higher temp settings. Max V2

I agree, that's why the first thing I did was change the thermistor and check all the wiring to it. In fact, I think I changed it three or four times. Results were identical. Always reads accurate at ambient. I do wonder if there was a bad connection somewhere along the signal path. So I inspected a...

Re: Keep needing higher and higher temp settings. Max V2

Welp, I'm confused. Did a couple cold pulls, re-checked all the connections, and suddenly it was flowing again around the 200c mark. So set my software back to 250c and she's printing ABS again with a .8mm nozzle. Quite nicely actually. I did find I had the retract setting a bit too aggressive for t...

Keep needing higher and higher temp settings. Max V2

Was also covering this in my build thread, but trying here as well. At my wits end, been fighting this for months. Basically, I keep having to increase the temp in my hot end, in order to print. For a few years I had been consistently printing in the 225-230c range. Then, this summer, I started to g...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

I still can't sort this problem out. Seems like I have to keep constantly raising my temperature setting to get ABS to even start to extrude. And only works with larger nozzles now, 0.4 is completely out of the question, regularly forced to use a 0.8 now. Also having to slow down speeds well below w...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

I'm starting to think the issue may be in the extruder. It just slips and skips so easily right now, and once that happens it starts grinding into the filament and that's all she wrote.

Going to pull it apart tomorrow and take a closer look.

That's the confusing part, I've been printing for 3-4 years with a 0.4mm nozzle, and didn't change my settings. It just suddenly started clogging up all the time.

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Well, I'm stumped. I have 4 rolls of ABS, none of them have given me issues before, but I just still keep getting clogging with a .4mm nozzle, which was never a problem till a couple months ago. New nozzle, new themistor, plenty of heat, .8mm is just fine.

Odd.

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Ahh, now I see it, the accellerometer board mounts on the top of the hot-end. I thought it mounted down near the nozzle.

Is it compatible with the Rambo board in the V2? Not seeing much from folks who have done the conversion in the older machines.

Guess my search talent is failing me today, can't find that mount on repables.

The 713 stuff sure looks nice though.

Old style 'peek' hot-end - any reasonable offer

Upgraded a while ago to an E3DV6 on my Max V2 but still have the old PEEK hot-end sitting here. Nothing wrong with it at all, just not using it. Have some mounting hardware and spare thermistor beads that go with it too. Basically, if you cover shipping expenses you can have it, anything on top of t...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Drive motors are doing fine, I'm starting to think it's a nozzle issue more than anything else at this point, switching to the spare 0.8mm is working right now at normal temps. The threads on my 0.4mm are very badly tarnished and look to have some burnt on carbon, so possibly it's not transferring h...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Well, uploaded the latest firmware version, made sure to increase the max temp (I think), made sure the thermistor is selected properly (I think), and man things sure are different. Interestingly, even if I specify I have a V2 with the non-accelerometer hot-end, it still tries to initialize the acce...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Ok, time for a thread necro, as I'm having issues now, and it's been almost 3 years since I built this thing ...... so I can't wrap my head around certain things again. My temps are out of whack on the hot-end. It's obviously cooler than the rambo board think's it's at. I had been printing at 225c f...

Missing part is on the way from Matter Hackers, nice and quick response from them.
Soon I'll be back printing again.

Re: Is my E3D V6 missing something for the bowden?

Doesn't look like it fell out of the packaging, I checked it all a while back.
Not a huge problem though, at least now I know what's wrong and I can work to get it fixed.

Re: Is my E3D V6 missing something for the bowden?

Ordered the bowden style. And apparently the hot end itself is the same regardless of which version you buy, the only difference in the 1.75mm is that the 'bowden' style comes with an additional bowden fitting for the extruder and the length of bowden tube. Wish I had known that, I could have saved ...

Re: Is my E3D V6 missing something for the bowden?

Yep, dug up some more info. It's missing the black press-in part of the bowden coupler.
The parts from the other press-fit connectors I have are all different styles, none of these will fit.
Time to get in touch with matter hackers or E3D to get this straightened out.

Is my E3D V6 missing something for the bowden?

I have a feeling my E3D V6 is missing something in the bowden attachment, but documentation for this thing really doesn't exist. Can you guys confirm for me if there's parts missing here? I'd assume there should be another collet to hold the tube in place, as it is now the bowden tube just slips rig...

I've been planning on ordering a V2 kit in a few days. I'm pouring over the posts on this board for the last few days, and I can't help but come to the conclusion that the power supply with this kit is a big problem. I can't see spending $1K+ on a kit only to find out that a $30 power supply is lik...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

Broke down and ordered the E3D v6, plus the .8mm and .25mm nozzles to go with it. I've been printing some pretty large and un-detailed things lately, so I want the .8mm for speed. But I also want to start pushing the detail side too, now that I'm getting back into some other hobbies again. I'll have...

Re: Hans makes a build thread for a Rostock Max V2

I think I've reached my limits with the stock hot end, and am eagerly looking at the E3D V6. The main issue I am having is still coming from the location of my thermistor on the threaded mount, it sticks out too far and using the layer fan just causes temps to go bonkers at more than 20%. But that '...
