Re: Magnetic rods kit

Whoah! The very symmetrical ripples going down the walls of my prints are due to the arm mechanism? I really assumed this was just due to delta movement calculations, etc..

RMAX rebooting in the middle of an SD print? SOLUTION

I finally figured it out and wanted to share in case someone else was pulling their hair out. My Rostock Max V2 was seemingly randomly rebooting itself in the middle of printing maybe every 10 prints or so. It would be humming along fine, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for 15 hours when BOOM, the ...

Re: Almost out of filament - printing RMaxV2 from SD

No problem anymore! I didn't run out of filament. It would be good to understand if there is a way to pause a print from the LCD panel though.

Almost out of filament - printing RMaxV2 from SD

Printing a large print, 20+ hours, and it looks like I will be running out of filament before it completes. I'm using the SD card on the Rostock Max V2 so I don't know if I can pause the print and swap out spools or what. I don't see anything in the LCD menu which would allow me to do it. On top of ...

Re: Amazed by small intricate print

Is your extruder making a clicking noise? Skipping? I ask because mine does if I try to run at any real speed. Head pressure is greater with the smaller nozzle I guess. Try this (I use Simplify3D) Use .42 for extrusion width Slow down the head speed bump up PLA temp to 215 or so.. That is what is wo...

Re: Amazed by small intricate print

45mm/sec

Extremely small part so layer to layer transition is easily too fast for appropriate cooling.

Re: Amazed by small intricate print

First time I've tried the .35mm nozzle w/ .05 layer height on the Max V2. I'm blown away as I can no longer see layer lines at all!!

Amazed by small intricate print

This is "Groot" from Guardians of the Galaxy printed really small - 70mm x 55mm. Cannot tell it's been 3D printed!

S3D Settings for Rostock Max V2

I'm about to plunk down the cash for S3D and am hoping someone has a great head start for the typical settings for the Rostock Max V2. I assume there is some form of config or settings file with S3D. Anyone care to share?

Thanks

Re: Hi From Houston, TX!

Hey Matthew! Beautiful build. I'm in the Tomball area (near Houston) and just finished my Max V2 as well. I absolutely love the printer. I'm contemplating upgrading to the E3D v6 and possibly the tricklaser arms. My prints are pretty darn smooth with the standard V2 arms slightly modified to remove ...

Re: Howdy from Texas

The build is coming along slowly as I only get to work on it in short spurts. The kit seems to go together fairly well and geneb's assembly manual is excellent! I really wish I had bit the bullet and ordered a crimper and connectors already though. I want to try and wrap up the build this weekend bu...

Re: Assembly manual discussion thread!

Luckily I caught this right after building the base. Notched it, no problem. Also had to notch a spot for the Z stepper motor upon installing the astrosyn dampers to keep the motor casing from touching part of the frame just outside the PS.

I just heard a podcast that discussed multiple ways of glueing PLA parts together. The resounding success story was to use good ole Testors model glue.

Re: Heatbed to 24V Question

Is there any way to run 24v to the Onyx while limiting current to under 15A? Like others I'm evaluating picking up a 24v / 15A PS for what appears to be quite an improvement in bed heating time. Someone mentioned using an SSR. What is an SSR?

Thanks

That is looking great Art! Mine is scheduled to show up on Monday. Of course it just missed the weekend. I'm evaluating a stand to place it on. Would you mind throwing a tape measure on your base and giving me the dimensions? By the way we are definitely fairly close considering 99 opened up. W...

Wow EZ star huh. You've been doing this for awhile. I got into it heavy about 3-4 years ago and haven't stopped. It's my passion. Going to rig up a 3D camera for the oculus rifts? I can't wait to hear your experiences with those. I've got a pair of dominator HDs on order to go along with my current ...

Howdy from Texas

Hello everyone. I've got a Max v2 on order and am reading the forum every chance I get for guidance. Seems to be a great forum with great people! This feels a lot like when I was just getting into RC FPV (first person view) flying and was sucking up every piece of information I could get my hands on...
