I have some hardened steel pars about 4 foot long that should work.

Re: Hotend assembly tutorial
A bit on the silly side but if you split the foil and wrap it around a pencil then wet the ends it will help keep the foil tight.

We have the hot end temp at 200-205c. What temp are you using?

Running a prit job without filament
I have been trying running without filament to figure out how long a print job takes. Is there an easier way, or am I missing something in slic3r? We put a fan on the front of the printer, but we're still having some problems with the filament expanding in the tube. Seems like time to switch from ab...

Re: new extruder design problem with 1.75mm filament
I had to remove the black extruder base and go back to the clear one, I couldn't get it to line up correctly no matter what I tried. Bad news/good news but still was a bit of a nuisance. At least we're printing again.

Parts got here yesterday and I didn't check the mail???? lol family picnic today but I was able to rebuild the extruder with the new black parts. Tonight when we get home I can do the hot end so Monday night we should be back in business with a fan to keep from having problems.

That's a really good idea. Might be a good addition to the ending g code in slic3r as well

Re: First print.
OHHHHH, That is exactly what it did! I have a fan that I can use, just need to look at some of the ones on here to figure out how to mount it. I guess I got the ABS and PLA mixed up when I ordered. For some reason I thought it was the other way around, fan for ABS not PLA. I have new parts on the wa...

Looks like we're dead in the water. Hot end got plugged and the tip was too tight and stripped the acorn. PITA!!!!! Ordered a new hot end, but what can I do to keep this from happening? Seems like every third or so time I try something the filament expands inside the hot end and gets blocked. I fina...

I'm not sure, but my guess is too hot? It was our first attempt, we had a bit of a pain getting the extrusion to start. Suggestions?

Re: Coolio
So, it has been just shy of a month and we are doing our first print now. Had a few problems with getting the filament to go through the silly thing and had to tighten up the parts inside the extruder, seems to be working now. Love the pretty pink filament... I will be posting the print when it is f...

Re: Z height
Turns out it was z lift in slic3r.
I wil adjust to .3 though, not sure about the odd number. Should do our first print tonight!!! I just needed to make a new computer for Ellen so I could swipe hers.

Thanks,
I'm so glad you are here. Only one thing left, learning how to check the temp on the hot end and we can start printing!!!!
Thanks again.

z offset
I have been playing around. When I set layer height to 0.04 then the z retract is 0.04: ; layer_height = 0.04 ; perimeters = 3 ; solid_layers = 3 ; fill_density = 0.4 ; nozzle_diameter = 0.4 ; filament_diameter = 3 ; extrusion_multiplier = 1 ; perimeter_speed = 45 ; infill_speed = 60 ; travel_speed ...

Do you wire them to a separate electric input? I know I'm pretty much a nubie on this stuff.

Re: Temp measurement
Hi,
That looks like a 220v input for that one. I have been looking into getting one like that as well. There is a 12v version, but it is twice as much.

Re: Z height
About the only thing I can see is layer height, but in the G code it retracts z to .4 and it looks like .4 inch not .4 mm even though the g code sets measurement so mm first. HELP!!!!! lol

Hi,
Checked Z and it is set at zero and set the center of the bed as home in Mach3. This is the gcode and my slic3r config: Any ideas would be great.

Z height
We're pretty close to doing our first print. We've taken the corner bracket stl and sliced it in Slic3r. When we load it into Mach3 everything seems to be working except that the z is too high. instead of being right at the bed it is about 1/2-3/4" above the bed. When I start Mach3 I go into of...

We have a large fan on the top pulling air out to the bottom of the table and one in the front to push air into the enclosure. So far it seems to be keeping everything cool.
