Re: In line filament dryer.

Well, that idea went NOWHERE and took a long time to get there. I got a new batch of filament last week and the improvement is SIGNIFICANT ! So I started thinking about drying - again. Looking at the Artemis... a waste paper basket would probably fit quite neatly under the spool with the bottom half...

Re: Printing Vases

Cura also has a "spiral vase" setting - and so too do MOST slicing programs. I am also trying to make something that is "waterproof" although very different to this particular vase. QUESTION: Are there any general tips and tricks for getting ABS to fuse together consistently enou...

Re: Filament Dryer/Dispenser Revisited

I started another thread before finding this one. I am more interested in an in-line dryer than a dryer/storage container. WRT the inner wraps of filament being shielded from drying out - moisture being blocked from traveling OUT through the outer wraps; It probably doesn't matter, since as filament...

Re: In line filament dryer.

Looking at a few "typical" prints of mine; 10 or 12 m of filament, 3 hours or so. If I could "hold" say about 15 m of filament in the in-line dryer that could be enough for my first print of the session. I am thinking this could be a likely scenario; 1) I turn on the dryer 3 or 4...

In line filament dryer.

I have seen the "adapted" Walmart grade dehydrators, meh. What I would LIKE to create is a small enclosure that I can dry filament in as it passes through in the normal course of printing. Here are the missing variables, any help in deriving them would be much appreciated; 1) Needed reside...

Re: Artemis Linear Rail Mainentance

The test print in this thread; http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=3965&p=109532#p109532 Showed up my need for a little rail maintenance. I greased the "faces" of the rails, as well as the slots that the balls ride in, I ran the head up and down a few times to spread it ...

Re: Betacha cant print this. wide Calibration test

In the last hour or so I have printed this circle a few times; ONE of them showed a pattern on parts of it that looked a bit like a braided rope, I discarded that before thinking very much about what that might mean. I did it again to see if that pattern was near a particular tower, between two part...

Re: Betacha cant print this. wide Calibration test

Interesting... I didn't find this when I built my Max V2.0 in 2014, but it prints OK on my Artemis - maybe no surprise, 5 years is a long time in the development of these things. ALMOST disappointed, since I found this while browsing for test prints to improve my first layer adhesion - but this one ...

Re: Lubricating linear rails?

I haven't done a LOT of printing on mine since receiving it about 3 months ago, but I think I have now put enough printing hours on it that the sounds I am hearing may be due to this idler bearing issue. I have tried to isolate the source using the "mechanic's stethoscope" (screwdriver bla...

Re: Problems with PVA and dual extrusion

Re previous post.
I just checked the CURA 3.5.1 default settings;
Nozzle switch retraction distance; 16 mm
Nozzle switch retraction speed: 20 mm/sec

That is with ABS, but I don't think the material type matters, only the dimensions of the filament paths in the Y
FWIW, etc.

Re: Problems with PVA and dual extrusion

I am trying to do this on an Artemis, well not quite this I am trying to do it with ABS, so different material and somewhat different hot ends. Anyway, I noticed mention of tool change retraction of 3 mm and that seems extraordinarily SHORT (to me). I'm thinking that each material needs to get fully...

Re: 2 Color printing with CURA

I'm still trying to slog through this, MOSTLY for 2 material printing so that I can use water soluble support material. I avoid it for a while, then create an object that needs internal support that would be very hard to remove with pliers. Right now I have both extruders responding to elementary co...

Yet this program is available to US and Canadian ex-Military ONLY.

Maybe their French and/or German and/or Italian and/or ...web sites offer similar programs ?

Thanks, but for what I want to do and how I want to do it I think a simple wireless web cam will suffice without adding any burden to the duet.
Just another browser tab or window, maybe split screen or tiled.

Re: CURA

The "solution" to the problem I was describing above turned out to be the infill support setting. It SEEMED like a good idea to have infill support, but I either didn't read or didn't digest the word "only" in the description. It DISABLES infill EXCEPT where needed for support - ...

Yes, yes, all that and more. In a previous life the "philosophy" was about whole backup systems in different time zones with their transactions offset by various intervals, e.g. an hour behind, 4 hours, 8 hours, etc. Some not in the snow belt, some not in earthquake prone areas, some not s...

Re: Tech Support Needed on Z-Probe Always Triggered

I just noticed that THIS is the Rostock v3 sub forum - and that the OP and I have been talking about SE300 problems.

While I'm not absolutely "up on" which machines can have which Z probes... I thought the Max was restricted to SE280.

Maybe it doesn't matter too much.

Re: Tech Support Needed on Z-Probe Always Triggered

Continued from previous post; I just finished about a 3 hour print and the blue probe light stayed ON until the extruder cooled to 48 C (from 235). During that time the Z-probe sensor read 1000 most of the time, but flashed 875 a couple of times a minute, and more rarely showed 937. Once it went out...

Re: Tech Support Needed on Z-Probe Always Triggered

I seem to have a similar symptom to the OP (original poster). When the hot end is HOT the blue probe light will come on and it takes a LONG cool down time before it goes off. Example; Room temperature around 23 C I switched on the printer and intended to change filament, so I turned on the extruder ...

Re: 3d model slicer software

I can't edit the above post, but had meant to say that in Solidworks "mate" will help you figure out where and how your joints don't fit, e.g. a sliding dovetail needs to be right, and I mean JUST RIGHT for the assembly to go together. It can still be worth taking off a TINY bit from each ...

Re: 3d model slicer software

Ahh yes, "massive" builds". Not usually the domain of 3D printing, but it CAN be done. I'm going through this now, since the PRACTICAL limit on ABS prints is about 10 cm - above that thermal stress and shrinkage cause cracking and/or deformities. Solidworks can do it; basically you wo...

OK, here's something I haven't figured out (yet) about CURA. There is a tab for "MONITOR" right beside the PREPARE tab on the top left side. It ALWAYS says the printer is not connected, even when the printer IS connected via its web interface. So is this tab active ONLY if/when there is a ...
