Re: Yet another Metal Max!

Actually. I don't recommend those converters at all. I've used them before. Unreliable as they can go bad with weird modes of failure. Stick with a dedicated 12v power supply (like a computer power supply) and generate that 12v from scratch. It's cheaper and more reliable. Oh man... why? Please exp...

Re: Possibly starting a Max Metal build

The cf arms from TL comes with the 0lash straps. No, you can't use your own extrusion with the frame. They're machined to work with the frame.

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

@Brian, I may be interested if you made a version that worked with FSRs... including the pistons and such. The poor tolerances on my 3d printed fsr mounts are causing print artifacts due to bed shifting during the print. Edit: hmmm... maybe I don't need FSRs if the brackets eliminate the need for FS...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Thanks. Wasn't sure which pieces were part of the spoolholder but I'm good now.

Anyone using the max metal platform have a have a recommendation for a fan holder/duct that fits well with an e3d?

Question: Do you have the always-on fans set to turn on at a specific temp or are you using the pwm fan pins?

Nope, I'm good. But out of curiousity, what did you use for your probing radius? All the way to the edge or somewhere more in the middle?

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Ccavanaugh, did you ever upload your files for the Gen 2 Spool Holder? I'm interested in using it in my build, although I'd probably face it "inwards" so the filament path is as direct as possible.

I made an album on Imgur here: http://imgur.com/a/YPBU2 Haven't got it printing yet, been fiddling with the duet config. Custom parts: Feet - Could probably use improvements like some sort of mounting for the metalmax stock feet or something.: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aegm65cwmwiy0q9/untitled-feet....

I'm a bit lost as to where I should set the probe points and such so I wanted to see if any of you had already done the work :)

If you mount your power supply to the base, that'll solve the "top heavy" problem.

Re: Bob64's Max Metal Build

Can you say something about how hot a Crydom like you have in your other machine gets? Do I need a heatsink? Planning on upgrading in a week or two. It doesn't get hot all all either (tested with thermocouple). I have it sitting on my meanwell power supply casing to sink any heat it does generate i...

Re: Bob64's Max Metal Build

Yeah, some progress being made. I really started liking the print quality/improved repeatability of calibration after replacing the snowflake/top base plate of my current rostock max v2. Also loving the retraction calibration with the fly-n-strude modifications to it. So, I decided to change the sco...

Version where the tension adjustment is accessible is done (the offset isn't perfect on it, but it's accessible), printed and succesfully tested. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1533835 Hope it helps others! Re: E3D Titan on E3D V6?

Uh, motor_current is relative to the rambo board's "sense" resistor. Ideally you should set your current to 70%-90% of your stepper's maximum current. VRef = MaxStepperAmps* 0.8 MOTOR_CURRENT = (VRef / 1.66) * 255 so I'd set it to about 100 or so. Best way to tell is try holding your cheap...

Very nice design indeed! You have inspired some additional design considerations! When you reload do you just cut the filament above the Titan then pull out from the top after heating the hot-end? One of the biggest PITA for me has been trying to reload by unscrewing the bowden tube connector from ...

Re: Bob64's Max Metal Build

Note for future builders: print those pesky tensioner caps slightly bigger. It's a tight fit for me and I broke like 6 of them... Print em out of something stronger than PLA too, but if you don't, print em like 1-3% larger in the x/y direction. I used a sequence of 3 washers, bearing, large washer,b...
