Re: Anyone else still rocking the original Rostock Max?
I still have my Rostock Max V2 from 2014 cranking away. I did upgrade to a E3D V6 first with a printed bracket and then later upgraded to a fancy aluminum / carbon fiber mount that just looks cooler. I just replaced the original E3D head as it was fairly gunked up and I screwed it up trying to get i...

Re: Rostock MAX purchase poll
I purchased by Rostock MAX at the MakerFaire in Dearborn, MI in July 2014 when I met the SeeMeCNC crew and got to talk to them about the printer. Everyone at the booth was great and it made me feel that it was not only a great printer but had great people behind it. The price and build volume were p...

Re: Mosaic Manufacturing
I've also seen this device and was very curious about interfacing it to my Rostock Max V2. Based on the little information they have on their site it should be compatible but I hate to be the first guy to actually try to get it working (unless they'll give me a free unit to try out). I saw they are ...

Re: E3d getting jammed
I've now used my E3D with PLA, T-Glas and ABS. Initially it ran fine with the PLA but when I switched to black PLA I suddenly started running into multiple jams in the hot end during runs. I tried the canola oil trick and the jams went away completely. I have since printed a small filter http://www....

Re: Rough Build Surface issue
First, I want to thank everyone who responded to my posts. I'm back up and running. I am posting the follow-up in case any other noop comes along with the same issue. It was a clogged head that was causing the problem. I suspect some foreign material got in there that started the problem, Thanks aga...

Re: Rough Build Surface issue
So I have tried a few things to test the possibility of an extruder issue. I examined the extruder and tried unloading and loading filament and didn't see any evidence of any blockage. It also seems to be running smoothly. I did notice that when I bring the hot end up to temperature and run the extr...

Re: Rough Build Surface issue
So I've been playing with the cheapskate adjustments and it hasn't helped. If I hold the Cheapskate and start to turn the wheel cover on the adjustable side it will turn with some effort but they are certainly not loose at all. The Cheapskates are solid (no wiggle) on the track. I played around tryi...

Re: Rough Build Surface issue
Good idea (see below). The image on the right was printed about a week ago with no problems and smooth on all four sides The image on the left is what I am now experiencing. Interesting two sides are very rough as shown on the photo while the other two sides are just a little rougher than normal. I ...

Rough Build Surface issue
I have been actively printing with my Rostock Max V2 since August 2014 and ran into a problem this week that needs some help. I am getting a very rough finish on my prints with PLA that previously was fine. I tried using different slicers (Slic3r and CuraEngine) but the same exact problem occurs in ...

Re: Rook with spiral stairs stl?
There is a rook with spiral stairs now available for free at https://www.youmagine.com/designs/make-rook-2015-3d-printer-shoot-out-sla-test#!design-documents" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It is the .stl used for Make Magazine's 2015 printer torture test. I printed it on my...

Thanks for the quick reply. That looked like exactly what I was trying to do so I went ahead and ordered one. I'll let you know how it works out if I get it installed before you. Best regards.

Relatively New from Michigan
Just wanted to say hi from Midland, Michigan. Picked up a Rostock MAX V2 at the Maker Faire at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI in late July and was up and running by mid-August. Didn't take that long to assemble but I went away on vacation in the middle of the build. Printer has been working g...

Re: My LED Ring Upgrade
Interesting looking mod and I'm interested in reproducing it. Have you had a chance to test it out with a few prints yet? Also, where did you source the LED ring from or can you provide a part number. I saw a few online but they looked a bit thicker (Angel Eyes ~.4 in thick). Are you willing to shar...
