Re: max v2 kit first Print PS

PS:
Mine didn't put down all that extra stuff on the bed... it just started straight away with the build of the object. Why? (Stuff to learn, switches to throw, knobs to pull to tweak the end product, I presume...)

Re: max v2 kit first Print

Yours definitely looks better then mine. All in all it was okay for a first print, I guess. What's with the little hiccups and the line that goes thru the center? Is this a machine-thing or a room/atmosphere/breeze/temperature-thing? I did no tweaking except for what was called for by way of bed siz...

Re: end stop screws backwards. Stuck on paper width across p

X tower is on the left...so X direction is toward the right of that, yes? Y tower is on the right so the Y direction is to the left of that, yes? Any number, say X50 is 50 mm from exact center toward the right, yes? I'm trying to calibrate for the center (#4) now. The distance from the nozzle to the...

Re: end stop screws backwards. Stuck on paper width across p

I got it!

Thank you for the explanation of the what the actual "code" means and does. THIS is important.

I can fine-tune the limiter screw now simply by clicking HOME then pasting the command and clicking it, over and over.
I get that I do not need to extremely fine tune just yet.

Re: end stop screws backwards. Stuck on paper width across p

I entered the scripts as described (to get to the G-code editor with my interface I go to PREVIEW tab, then enter as described in instructions). I now understand (thanx to you) that every line is its own command. I knew that g28 is home. I did the first g0 (thanx for explanation here) Z5 X0 y90 f350...

I'll be a geek, too.

So, here it is. Atop a custom table I built that fits the space exactly how I wanted/needed it.
I opted for the black, as the white is too reminiscent of R2D2...

Next build will be a heat cover. Still debating if I'll go all glass or just have a large glass door in front (probably).

Re: Wires don't match instructions... ARGH!

(Bone) funny... So, I fixed the solder nightmare and added crimps. Cleaned up the wiring a bit (I would definitely change the manual to read: do not use ties downs on the columns for the hot end wires until wiring job is completed and hot end installed). It's a pain to move those wires around but it...

Thanx, Brian.

Eaglezsoar,
..." Don't think we don't know what we are talking about..."
I made a bonehead move; I asked if it were okay because I didn't know. I never made any such assumption that the "we" were boneheads, too.

Re: Wires don't match instructions... ARGH!

Got it.
I haven't turned printer on yet. Still in the build.

Question: Why is it okay to solder the thermistor leads? (I assume because these don't carry the heat/power as do the leads to the hot end...)

thx!

Re: Wires don't match instructions... ARGH!

There's no way in hell I'm going to recommend that someone pop the supply open and clean up the wires. 4 would do it right and 1 would either electrocute themselves or set their printer/table/house on fire. :) I do know this - if the Rostock MAX is your first kit, you won't hesitate to build anothe...

Re: Wires don't match instructions... ARGH!

I thouht the manual on the wires was fairly straight forward. But then again I deal with wires as a part of my work. However it could be much nicer for the perfectionnist. I'm a total layman when it comes to wiring. I dislike dealing with wiring, soldering, etc. I'm currently building an e-bike as ...

Re: Wires don't match instructions... ARGH!

I'm not up to those standards but I am getting rid of wires. What's your suggestion on doing it? Clip at the base of them, or do you actually heat the solder and yank? I'll leave a bundle, for the future. You suggest the black/red/yellow quad bundle? I don't know squat about electronics so volts/amp...

Thanx, RegB. Ithink the company should go through the pictures/descriptions and do some editing/updating. Now, I'm at the Onyx platter and it doesn't have all the holes as depicted in the pics. Minor, but just goes to show that, hey, I've plunked down hard-earned cash for a "complete kit with ...

By the way, I noticed you replaced the gang-of-four (blacks and also yellows) with a single fatty. I like that. Very clean overall, but I especially like that touch. Bravo.
