Take a very close look at the LCD adapter board. The solder joints nearest the ribbon cable in your picture look like there might be a bridge between pins. May just be glare, but worth checking.

I suspect that the version of Matter Control you are using is not the same as the one in the Max instruction manual. If you can get an older release of MC, the one used in the manual, use it.

Some of the settings may look a little odd, since they may be framed in the assumption of Cartesian movement printers. If your printer goes to the correct positions when the tower calibration macros are run, then your EEPROM settings are likely fine. So if everything you try to print goes to the wrong spot, then the problem is likely in your slicer settings. Could be bed dimensions, bed center, maximum height, gcode...

I don't think it is the cause of the problem you have described, but I believe the line

should have a value of 5 like X and Y, instead of the differing value of 2.

Based on recent thread "error uploading repetier", I suggest that you uninstall Ardunio IDE version 1.6.7 and then install version 1.6.1 which is the same version used in the tutorial.

Almost certain that you have the diagonal arm length set wrong. Guessing you have the length of the old style arms (269mm IIRC) but the newer ball end arms are longer (290.8mm).

I'm guessing that the version of Repetier firmware that you are trying to load was written for a different version of the Arduino IDE. If you are printing from the computer, it sounds like the computer is going into standby/sleep and causing the print to be interrupted. Speed for non-print moves is likely too high. The slicer speed values are in terms of cartesian movement. You might try setting your maximum step rate to a much lower value (I'd suggest 5-10% of whatever it is now), then see what it does. I'm guessing the speed is too high.

Factory says you lose about an inch of Z. Since arms are only 31mm longer seems like it could not be more than that difference. The new ball link arms use the new longer arm length value of ~290mm. If you have the u-joint style arms, the correct arm length vale is 269mm. Change that setting and print size should improve. You may need to recalibrate. You'll definitely need to reset height for Z=0.

Bought them and have not yet installed. The IM skates have mounting bosses for the ball bracket. I see no reason you couldn't print an adapter that would bolt to the cheapskate and add the needed bosses. The ball brackets are part of the ball arm kit.

Don't know what slicer you are using, but it may have a setting for width of extrusion of support material. If that is extremely high, it will produce the symptom you described.
