Re: Baking Water out of PLA
In my experience with ABS you don't need to bake it if you store it "correctly". Simply placing the spools in air tight containers (a homebrew desiccator) with a layer of indicating silica beads in the base works 100%.. absolutely no heat required though a warm room helps. Never ever had a...

Re: Knob direction for menu navigaion
It's pretty simple to modify the menu, never did do a how to guide but how to do some simple tweaks is here: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=6989&p=60199&hilit=rocketmagnet#p60199 I recall the main issue I had at the time was getting the correct version of the Arduino comp...

Re: Backpressure Issue
Don't want to complicate the issue but i'd try the following: 1. Print slow and try upping the temperature a bit but not 250 that's way way too high for PLA.. even too high for ABS IMO (essentially give the plastic time to melt in the hot end). 2. Double check your filament diameter... if it's much ...

Re: Diary of a RoStock Max V2 print
Can you post your STL file for what your trying to print? Large rectangles with 90 degree corners are prone to lifting right at the corner due to shrinkage so a very warm room or enclosure is needed to minimise it. Breezes from open windows also really don't help along with if you accidentally run y...

Re: Print speeds?
Will be a good idea to check the temperatures of your motors if your running your running your axis motors @175. A reflash of your Rambo will base software can have incorrect power settings as there are a couple of different motors types.. Discussion here about others settings on the Orion with Kysa...

Re: Speed/flow question
For some extra explanation into exactly what the speed and flow does see below: Speed Changes the speed of all 4 Stepper Motors which are the 3 towers and the feed stepper motors by the same percentage. So you get proportionally more or less plastic based on how fast the printer is going. Flow This ...

Re: Can no longer print at all
I'd definitely disconnect your printer from the computer and set your Z height then run a simple file from the SDCard. If not then try Repetier Host coupled with Slicer or Cura (setup is covered in the older manuals) in the meantime to get up and printing. I've personally not had much luck with MC a...

Re: Hot end will not heat up...
So it does start heating up to touch but the temp doesn't register? Check the thermistor is correctly seated in the correct thermistor port on the Rambo, but saying this i'm pretty sure an unplugged thermistors (or dead) is obvious by the error it throws to the LCD for that specific temp readout. If...

Re: Hot end will not heat up...
I'm a tad confused, are you saying it wont heat up at all or when it starts cooling down from a higher temp it wont reheat? If it's the latter i'd disconnect your Printer from the computer and try preheating then cooling then preheating again from the Printer UI itself to rule out MatterControl. I h...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
No bed @ 90 + Elmers glue pasted on cold. I was just talking about I only use 90 DegC and not 100 DegC as you were.. I find 90 is enough. Potentially your building up a layer of adhesive compensating for too high a Z height but it's in the manual exactly how to calibrate Z height so probably not. Cl...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
Personally I just run my bed @ 90 DegC for ABS. Never had the need to use ABS Juice but if it's Acetone based then your just boiling it off essentially immediately @ 100.. I certainly wouldn't be splashing acetone onto a hot surface... sounds a bit dangerous to me. I personally had some weird behavi...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
I rarely have adherence issues with ABS and never with PLA (opposite in fact with PLA I cant get the things off easily at the end). Took me a bit of experimentation to get my ABS technique right but essentially for me its a really good coat of the Elmers glue while cold (nice opaque layer) then heat...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
So your using resistors packed in with RTV? and not a cartridge heater. The resistors IME have a lifetime related to how well you pack in the RTV, if you have lots of air bubbles in the RTV around the resistors they burn out really quickly. I've been through the burned out resistor issue and discuss...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
OK. Pretty nice quality print with the PLA last night. Its not perfectly round, but that is the Tinkercad software - not the printer (its basically lots of short straight edges). However.... uber weak. The layers are just not stuck together at all well. It basically fell to bits getting it off the ...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
Beeper. OK, I know now that M120 S4 P200 makes it work. How do I get that G-code into the correct place to beep before it starts printing? If I am using Mattercontrol, is it possible? I have not dare try messing around with stand-alone Slic3r or anything yet. In the G-code for startup, I thought I ...

Re: Steves new build project. Sept 2015
The reference docs have M300 as the beep code however the firmware you install for the Max and Orion uses M120. So if your sending M300 to your printer you get no sound, if you've written your own start and end GCODE sequences and used M300 then this could be a possibility for no sound. Really long ...

Re: Orion/E3d v5 and taulman alloy 910
I know in repetier host under config/printer settings/extruder you can set a maximum temp.. but the stock setting is 250 and presumably that's simply for the repetier UI yet if its controlling the printer the max temp within repetier this value could override your gcode? not sure but worth a look. Simple Problems & Solutions with 3D Printing
I've had my printer coming up a year now and must say how much fun it's been from messing with the firmware, learning the technicalities of printing well to rewiring my Orion etc. Anyway one of my favourite aspects of 3D printing is when it solves simple practical problems quickly. Built a new PC th...

Re: leakage
Wall thickness will be a big factor and even the way you slice the file can result in tiny gaps and holes dependant on tool path. Personally I've found thin cylinders to be the hardest to get water tight right from the printer and trying different slicers/settings can produce better results based on...

Yahoo! Lowe's 1/8" brass rods - 2 for $3. Brass+aluminum= much happier interface. Good find! You may also follow guanu's advice and buy the parts he listed. Long term the acetal u-joints are much better. I agree that aluminum on brass is better than aluminum on steel but anytime you are workin...
