Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Delta arm lengths being wrong, towers not being exactly 120 degrees apart, each tower not being the exact same distance from the center, possibly others. At the end of the day the carriage opposite the location of the error is either moving too far or not far enough. Have you measured the delta arm...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Okay so you are saying there is enough excess tolerance in the max design to account for increased error in the "hot" zones? That seems plausible... but what errors in tolerance, specifically, do you think would account for that manifestation?

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Oh yes, I found the paper. I've attached it to this post for easier reference. I'm not sure if the paper is quite describing the problem you are having. The picture you posted shows only a 0.012mm error in the Z axis, with one of the setups. Also keep in mind those points that represent the towers a...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I'm not at all suggesting to shim the bed. I mean "set the height" by causing the hot end to be placed precisely a paper thickness from the bed. The image you posted is interesting. Is this something you created yourself? Or is this derived from mathematical computation? This does seem to ...

Re: How to power multiple layer fans for PLA?

If you make a clean connection you can wire them in parallel with the other fan. It shouldn't exceed the draw provided.

Wiring two identical fans in parallel draws twice as many amps at the normal voltage. Wiring them in series halves the voltage and draws only "one fan's worth" of amps.

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Okay, I'm going to suggest what I remember my steps for resolving this were: 1) set the 0,0 point at your desired height (paper thickness). 2) Set all three tower points at the same height. This should now mean the plane is level? Not necessarily. 3) Move the hot end from A tower position and 0,0, w...

It's hard to see what you're talking about in the picture... can you label it perhaps?

It seems you mean the X/Y bonding, not bonding between layers?

Re: Aurora's Rostock Max v2 build

That is one HUGE picture... but yes it is very easy. The hole lines everything up for you... you just need to turn it. It's all done by hand/in hand. You don't NEED a vice, but it would help. Safety gloves/garden gloves to protect your hand if holding the piece.

Show us your workspace!

We all love seeing a good machine, but often the space we work in isn't focused on... anybody have any set ups they're particularly proud of? I'm in the middle of setting mine up, so I'll show off my printing space when it's finished...

In the meantime, show off your 3d printing battle station!

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I really sympathize with your frustrations. I've been there. I am somewhat of a perfectionist, so things not being done to their most precise bothers me. I will have to wait and see how I feel after I assemble my kit. Keep in mind that it sounds like you have the V1 kit (did you upgrade the laser cu...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Sorry to ruffle your feathers. Have you considered that this is what an improperly calibrated delta printer behaves like? Even though, in theory, each tower is "identical" they, in practice, are not. There has to be a balance achieved in the firmware variables and the physical adjustments ...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

A thought I just had: perhaps the solution lies in calibration of the individual towers' steps per mm? I remember verifying that for myself when I had a homebuilt and it was around the time I solved my wavy plane issues.

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Technically, this issue transcends SeeMeCNC. The rostock design is not theirs. You should have done a little bit more research before you purchased your kit because this "issue" is the name of the game with Delta style home built 3d printers... and the "issue" can be solved. It d...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

It is all in the math. I'm no wizard, but it's just finding the right balance. As I said earlier, you will need to bring some variables seemingly OUT of spec, to later equalize it by bringing another value conversely into spec... I can't tell you which values they are... but don't give up! It can be...

Re: Upgrades from stock Max v2

Search for the thread on this forum about astrosyn dampers, get those for your stepper motors. (From astroboy, the forum user). An e3d v6 hotend is popular, since the tri hotend doesn't seem available yet. Some people use carbon fiber delta arms, but I've heard they might not be neccesary. A mod tha...

Re: E-steps

Instead of using the extrusion multiplier, why not adjust the filament diameter to be the actual measured average? Consider that filament can have a non-circular cross-section, so measure twice at the same point, rotated 90 degrees, and take the average of THAT and other measurements.

See if there is a local machine shop/automotive repair shop that can tap those threads for you. They might do it for a couple bucks, or for free if you're very nice (It would take them a total of 15 minutes including finding the right size tap).

Watching that other guy's videos is weird... he really REALLY looks like a slightly older version of me... and he's got some of the same ideas and interests.

I think I found my doppelganger.
