Re: [Solved] Print 3dlabprint Airplanes and Rostock Max - any success?

Gary, Thank you for taking the time to explain your process and post those files. The plane looks great.
I just updated my printer and plan on printing the P38 once I get it all dialed in.

Re: Duet setup - instructions in progress

I'd like to thank dc42, mhackney, geneb and other forum users for all of the great information they posted on the Duet controller. It was technically challenging and rewarding to make this upgrade and I couldn't have done it without your help. I installed the Duet 0.8.5 and the DC42 IR sensor board ...

Re: Layer Shifting

I finally got my Rostock Max V2 printing really well again after experiencing layer shifting and degraded quality over time. There were 3 issues that I had to address in addition to checking belt tension. 1. I noticed a click from the Y-axis injection molded carriage. When I took it apart an injecti...

Re: Question.

I've been able to resume prints that ran out of filament by cleaning the top surface (get rid of strings and poorly extruded junk) and then measuring the height of the print on the print bed. I then bottom clip that amount and use the same dimension for a Z offset. It has helped me to preheat the be...

Re: Hello from PushPlastic

The Astrosyn vibration dampers for X, Y and Z stepper motors will make the printer a lot quieter and are easier to install during the build than retrofitting them.

Re: Print keeps shifting

If none of the other approaches work take a look at your stepper motor current values in configuration.h. I had mine set too high after updating firmware and the stepper motors (or stepper motor drivers) were overheating and shutting down briefly while they cooled off, causing lost steps and misalig...

That is a great reminder of life's most important priorities during this time of year when people give material possessions too much time and energy. Thank you for posting that.

PETG 0.8mm Layer Height

I printed some "concrete fish" from thingiverse from PETG and placed them on an EL panel to photograph them. One color is Inland gold, the other is Inland clear. This is cheap filament, less than $19 (USD) per 1kg roll. There are 0 top layers, 0 bottom layers and 30% hex infill. Printed at...

Re: Mattercontrol doesn't slice my bracelet correctly

To determine if it is a wall thickness problem maybe you can scale the part up to 2X and slice it to see if it slices properly. It won't produce a wearable bracelet but might satisfy your curiosity.

Re: New carriages are available!

The spring arms are same material as the arms used in our machine since 2012. We use a high quality glass filled nylon of which I have over 12 years of experience molding. It will not creep or set because we do not exceed the elastic limit of the material. Note: You can damage the arm by installing...

Will the plastic used for the spring arms creep over time and loosen the grip on the rails?

I'm old enough to remember the Rolodex.
And the mimeograph machine they made copies with in elementary school too, a technological wonder in its time.
3D printers were science fiction back then, and are an indispensable tool for me at work now.

Re: Hello from Chantilly, Virginia

Welcome to the forum and the Rostock Max V2.
I live in Northern Virginia too, built my Rostock in October and love it.
Send a PM if you get stuck on the build or need some local help.

The PETG from Microcenter, not far from Chantilly, is real nice material and relatively inexpensive ($25).

I think this is possible using the Slic3r slice engine with MatterControl with the Sequential Printing setting under the Output Options.

It will also help to level the bed. The extruded "lines" are touching towards the top of the picture and much further apart at the bottom.

Re: PETG (PET)

I've been using PETG from Microcenter with good results. 70°C bed, 247°C extruder, PEI bed surface Sliced with MatterControl I was able to reduce stringing and blobs by adding a wipe before retracting. I can attest that the PETG is strong and flexible, does not break as easily as PLA. I was able to ...

Re: Does Your Rostock MAX v2 Hold Its Calibration?

I calibrated the Rostock Max V2 when building it, and many times thereafter while I was learning about the printer. I've upgraded to the PEI print surface and the bed hasn't been removed since then. I check the calibration often and it usually does not need adjustment. I was using glue sticks prior ...

The answer is probably obvious to somebody with more experience than I have, but I'm still a novice.
