Re: A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

First I want to thank Xenocrates for helping me out with swapping out the powersupply on my Maxx I wish I could say that I'm back up and running, but I'm not. I changed over the extruder to the top mount v2 style, of course the control cables are to short. lengthened the control cables, found out th...

Re: A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

L=Black, N=White, symbol=ground=green. Thanks, that is what I thought but I appreciate you confirming it. What's the red wire with a soldered end doing? Is that an add-on that you did? It doesn't look stock to me. Nothing in this power supply is stock. the gentleman who originally built this Maxx w...

Re: A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

I admit that I am in over my head I broke open the power supply, to see how difficult it would be to replace it. And did I get a surprise. Most of the leads were neatly soldered to, what I can assume, is the power taps. What I didn't expect is the 3 leads soldered to other points on the board. (the ...

Re: A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

The power supply in the V1 can be removed without removing ANY panels. Four screws is all it takes. g. Alrighty. Now that I have this under decent light I can see. White nylon screws blend in so well with the white melamine. I plan on doing the surgery after I get back from taking care of my sister...

Re: A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

Ok, now I'm convinced that the deity of 3D printing hates me Last weekend I took my Maxx to the Detroit Maker Faire. I had a replacement thermister and was prepared to install it. I plugged it into a extension cord, and dropped the end (of the extension cord) to the ground. When it hit the ground I ...

Re: A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

thanks for the reply I ordered a new thermistor from SeeMeCNC today, just in case. I also just tried powering up the printer and watched the display. It showed the hotend at -20° just like the control window of Matercontrol. The display stayed that way for a minute or so. Then both the hotend and be...

A string of misfortune involving this printer and/or project

I'm getting really confused I have had a string of really odd circumstances, most of them bad. Printed 5 parts (10-11 hours each) with no problems. While trying to get the 5th part off the printbed, a big chunk of the glass bed pulled up with the part. Replaced glass with something less damaged. Whi...

Re: Communication loss between my Computer and My Maxx

UPDATE [*] Alrighty, I wasn't expecting this. Short Story Somehow, feeding the filament normally through the feed system. The filament gets hung up either just before, or inside the hot end. Filament will feed through the hot end manually, after bypassing the feed tube. But it feels like it is bind...

Re: Communication loss between my Computer and My Maxx

I think you're noticing it on the extruder because you manually spam the extrude button. I'd bet if you just hit extrude 10, wait for it to finish and do it again it wouldn't lock up. You maybe right, I couldn't tell you off hand if that is the case or not. What I can tell you, is that when I switc...

Re: Communication loss between my Computer and My Maxx

My printer stop working with the laptop a few weeks ago but I could run it from a SD card. It turned out to be a windows update. I used an older computer and it worked ok; I went back to an older version of window to fix the communication issue. This could be "a" problem, but not "th...

Re: Communication loss between my Computer and My Maxx

Alrighty I decided to do a bit of testing. I unpluged all of my steppers and plugged my Extruder stepper into the Z-axis port. I could not get the printer to lock up. Then I decided to send commands to the extruder (nothing was hooked up to it). The printer locked up in about 10 remote feed commands...

Re: Communication loss between my Computer and My Maxx

It's not clear from your description if it's just the extruder that's not working, or your seeing a disconnect from the printer. ok, let me try and clearify my problem. Starting fresh, I load a new filament into my Maxx. I manually feed the filament to the top of the PTC fitting on the hotend. Usin...

ok, I have officially given up. I ordered the correct parts from Graingers and will pick them up on Tuesday (having them transferred from another store). Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier: 5/32~=4mm and 10-32~=M5x.8, you can mix and match these and hardly notice a difference. You are cor...
