Re: Is there a Rostock Max V3 on the Horizon?

Hi, Two questions on this metal frame: 1. Is there room for the astrosyn dampers? I like my dampers, but I remember some people decided they were compromising accuracy or something. Was there ever a consensus on the dampers? 2. I think some other builder made a frame where the triangle was oversized...

Re: A school in desperate need of help!

FYI I just exported an STL from Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 Release. There's a 3D menu with tools, etc. I loosely followed the first tutorial google found searching for photoshop STL. I don't usually design parts with photoshop though. My 6th grader uses Sketchup (which his school introduced to kids...

Re: What are you using for a Taulman 618 Build Plate?

The corners have stayed down for me with blue UHU glue stick on glass as long as I added mouse ears.

I've used 618 and 645 - I want to try the bridge next, but I don't have any yet. With t-glase, I've had the best luck on plain clean glass.

You can also setup your model in Rhino to use millimeters. This has worked for me.

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I haven't tried this rotation fix yet, but I was thinking about the possible combinations of adjusted tower position angles and it seemed like a lot. I put together this little chart. It seemed like the way to organize it was by the "gap between the towers." If you adjust each tower by no ...

Re: Creeking magnetic ball rods

I have experienced intermittent creaking coming from ball joints on the cheapskate end of my Y tower. It's possible the plastic cups for the bearings have worn in to the point where the ball can touch the magnet. I've used no lubricants and it's only intermittent, so I'm ignoring it for now. I've ha...

Re: Prints coming out terribly

I think Foshon is referring to the filament diameter & extrusion multiplier settings in your slicer. If the slicer thinks your filament is thicker than it really is, your resulting gcode won't extrude enough filament, making the each extruded line too narrow. That's one possible explanation for ...

Re: Easily adjustable belt tensioners for Rostock Max V2???

I don't have a V2, but I think that looks good. The double screw version seems preferable so it pushes on the melamine over a wider area - as long as there's enough room for it. There's probably a break in period for these belts because in the beginning I fiddled with it a lot and now I probably hav...

3DR: In your second screen shot, take a look at the line in the top right called Translation. I think the value for Y (214) is what's placing your object off the bed. Try zero for those translation values and it should show up in the center.

Not sure if this would solve your problem, but I'm using an older version of this these things to keep the belts from sliding over. This may not apply if you've got a V2.

using repetier firmware 0.91 rev 7

Hi, I have some questions about how to setup rev7. I've seen a few people using it, so I thought I would try it, but it's not working for me yet. I'm coming from the seemecnc 0.91 RostockMax edition and I'm using repetier host mac v0.56. It's been working for me except for some freezing up described...

Re: Xnaron Printable Magnetic u-joint option for Rostock Max

I think you guys are worrying too much about the balls detaching from the effector plate I'm no mechanical wizard, but I agree here. Mine have held since last spring and I kind of did a mediocre job w/the JB Weld. With a magnet on the other side of the bearing, the cap head screws are held in place...

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

I have seen this banding even before I installed the magnetic arms. You can sort of see it in this post . (Click the images to zoom in closer)... This scrabble tile holder was also pre-magnetic arms, but the bands line up with the fill pattern, so I suspected that. banding-3.jpg But it can't only be...

Re: Filament getting stuck

If this is PLA filament, do you have a cooling fan blowing on the PEEK part of your hot end (the thinner part right above the heater block)? Such a fan is required for PLA filament to prevent these jams. If you're using ABS, then I would definitely print hotter than 185C, although the low temp would...

happy birthday to my rmax

Here's a birthday picture since I think I printed my first test pyramid one year ago now. For a birthday present, the printer received some colored t-glase and a spool of 645. Re: PLA part warpage

I haven't done much PLA, but with ABS & nylon I've had good luck adding mouse ears to the part. I make the ears no more than a couple layers high and relatively small to minimize cleanup. You might also try turning off the part fan (not the peek fan) and/or warming the area around the heated bed...
