Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Went ahead and designed a FSR specific version of the heated bed bracket. This uses 4-40 nuts and the stock 3/4" 4-40 screws. It's based on mhackney's design with a revised plunger design for the nut and stock screw. As designed, it keeps the insulator very close to the frame rail when installe...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Looks good, you could integrate the FSR mount pocket right into these. I'll probably go that route when I get to that point. I've now figured out how to route the belt to clear my linear slides. I need to machine 6 "L" shaped replacements for the top bearing mounts. A smaller version of i...

I've also been working on an Enclosure for the Duet and 7" LCD panel AND, brackets for enclosing the build area without reduction of print area. The heated enclosure is based around the same concept I think most people have gone to on the Rostock Max v2 kit. I'm leaving room for heat set thread...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

I'm been picking at a few improvements. I've added a new heated bed insulator bracket (version 3) to the Git Repo. This version allows use of an unmodified snow flake and moves the mounting to the corners of the frame. It will accept a 4-40 nut underneath so the original screws may be used. I pushed...

Re: Need Alternative to Elmer's Glue Sticks [SOLVED]

Interesting you has such trouble with the tape. I suppose I'm lucky, as I can't break my build surface (3/16 AL plate FTW). But I've not had problems so long as I used windex (soak the surfaces, then squeeze it out, don't try using only a little), and allowed it to dry between sides. (I tried once ...

Re: Upgrading the HotEnd: Prometheus vs. E3D vs. ???

I'm about ready to install my third Prometheus on my third printer. No issues whatsoever with PLA and ABS and PETG print well. Eric, the developer of the Prometheus is super helpful. He is young and I would agree inexperience krept into a couple of his initial posts, but he had the backbone to stick...

Re: Red RTV silicone cure time

I've cheated by letting it skin over for a couple of hours and then setting the hot end heat to about 80C for about 6 hours. I've applied kapton tape to the exterior for extra insulation and protection against the thermistor popping out and causing a melt down. I've not had any issue with this appro...

Put the same file on the SD card and it completed without issue.

Re: Upgrading an Orion

Keep your Orion and build a larger printer.

Having a spare printer on hand to print repairs for the "other" printer is always a bonus. It can also serve as a platform for experimentation and not put a stable configuration as risk should you want to.

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

I've updated the limit switch bracket with a new version that uses less material and frees up some space on the top rail. The switch sits a bit lower to clear the assembly screws, but it still allows enough room for end stop adjustments. It's available in the Git repo in my signature. Limit Switch B...

XT30 connectors are now available instead of the XT60. The size is a bit more suitable and still good for 30 amps and helps reduce the bulk around the platform.

Thanks Carl. ccavanaugh, although I do have Smoothie on 1 machine just to stay current with new developments, if one is starting with a clean slate and wants the best hardware/firmware available for delta printers TODAY (it could change tomorrow!) then Duet is a hands down winner. Re: Replaced Rambo 1.1b with 1.3L. Now have drive ratio issu

The printer will still home correctly if your steps/mm and microsteps are incorrect, but as you've mentioned is goes bad from there. The MICROSTEP_MODES is the number of fractional/partial steps per physical step the motor makes. The older Ramo's were capped at 1/8 stepping (#define MICROSTEP_MODES ...

Re: Replaced Rambo 1.1b with 1.3L. Now have drive ratio issu

The old 1.1 had 1/8 stepping while the 1.3 has 1/16 stepping. As far as I've been able to tell the firmware setting for microstepping would never override the hardware, but just keep the math and timings in check. // Microstep setting (Only functional when stepper driver microstep pins are connected...

Re: Did i burn up my heat bed?

Measure the voltage at the heat bed when it's first turned on. It could be a weak power supply. It's about the easiest failure mode to check before you start swapping parts. i dont have anything on hand to test it with, but i can get something tomorrow probably. Any chance it could also be a PID is...
