Re: Help me resurrect my Rostock MAX v1.

Unfortunately, no. I never had time to mess with it. I ended up getting rid of it. Good luck with yours, though!

Re: Help me resurrect my Rostock MAX v1.

Hmm, no luck. But yes, I've got the clear acrylic body, dark tinted deck below the Onyx and same material for the cheapskates. Arms look like black injection molded plastic. Here are some pics just to be clear. https://files.catbox.moe/bnvw4d.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/zbapal.jpg https://files.cat...

Re: Help me resurrect my Rostock MAX v1.

Hmm, that seems to have made the problem even more exaggerated. Now it thinks the Z height is only 176.55 mm. And when leveling, the height of the nozzle is about 23 mm higher near the towers than it is in the center. There must be some other dimensions that are off. I've attached my Configuration.h...

Re: Help me resurrect my Rostock MAX v1.

I've tried it a few different ways. Before today, I hadn't really explored the LCD menu, instead trying to do everything through the Repetier Host interface. But unfortunately, it doesn't seem to change things when using the LCD. Here's what I did: Home with G28 Lower the nozzle down to the glass Ad...

Re: Help me resurrect my Rostock MAX v1.

Ok, I've installed the 091 firmware (with #define INVERT_Y_DIR true ) using Arduino 1.6.0. One thing I noticed is that the RAMBo hardware profile doesn't show up in Arduino 1.6.0 when placed in /hardware/ as the instruction show here: https://reprap.org/wiki/ramboLCD. But it shows up if I move it to...

Re: Long time no see

Those would be awesome upgrades, but it'll probably be a while before I can justify the purchase. I'm having such a difficult getting this thing to run as it is. BTW, I threw in a new 12V 29A 350W power supply and rechecked all connections. However, when I check the voltage while heating the hot end...

Help me resurrect my Rostock MAX v1.

I'm struggling to get my Rostock Max v1 up and running. It's the one with the clear plastic body and LCD. The only upgrades I've done are the addition of an Onyx heated bed (v1 I assume), and I just swapped the PSU with the thin box/rail kind. I think the problem I'm having involves the firmware or ...

Re: I'm back and wanting to upgrade

Chrissi,

These upgrades sound awesome. I just dusted off my v1 after 8 years and am in the process of getting it running. If you ever get around to documenting it all, please post it!

Re: Long time no see

Ok, good to know. I noticed the HE280 page says it's not recommended to install on a v1. But since I'm upgrading to an industrial power supply, would I be ok then, to follow this guide? https://seemecnc.dozuki.com/Guide/Rostock+Max+v1-v2+HE280+Hotend+Upgrade/49#s402 Also, when using the newer firmwa...

Re: Long time no see

Ok, great. I've got a new power supply on the way. In the meantime, I edited the Configuration.h file and it looks like it worked. I couldn't find a line to choose the printer model, but I found a section labeled "Inverting axis direction", so I changed the Y axis from false to true and no...

Re: Long time no see

Hey Gene! Thanks for the reply. I think I have 3 problems now that I'm trying to fix. If I should post this in a different forum, please let me know and I will. Temperature I wasn't sure where to check the power supply voltage, but I tried the screws on top of the connecter where the hot end plugs i...

Long time no see

Hey guys, I bought a Rostock Max (v1) in 2012 and assembled it. But as luck would have it, before I could ever get a single print off of it, we had a child and I suddenly had no time for 3D printing. Well now I've decided it's time to get back into it. I got my MakerBot Thing-O-Matic up and running ...

I actually needed this 32 bit Intel version, which I was able to find at that link.

Re: Anyone heard of KISSlicer?

Is anybody using KISSlicer on Ubuntu 12.04? I'm getting an error about missing the file: 'libfltk_gl.so.1.3'

Is this something I can install? Or is KISSlicer not supported on 12.04?

Ah, I stand corrected. In that case, I guess the current temps I'm getting are acceptable. I'd still like it to get hot faster, though.

Re: Onyx and round borosilicate plate

You're probably OK with your bed at 70˚. That gives me pretty good adhesion with ABS. As I understand, PLA will stick at lower temps, but there's a new vinyl material that looks like it will need to be hotter. I'm using the Onyx v2, and it's taking about 30 minutes to get up above 70˚. Also, the cen...

Re: Onyx and round borosilicate plate

I'm using regular glass cut at 12 1/4", so it hangs over a tiny bit all the way around. I soldered everything from the bottom. There are through-holes, so I split up the wires into 2 parts each, so they'd fit into the holes. The connections feel pretty secure. [img]http://thingevery.com/rostock...

Re: Onyx taking forever to heat up.

I checked the bed with an infrared thermometer, and it seems like the thermistor is returning pretty accurate readings. For most temperatures, the thermometer and LCD panel showed the same value. However, when the LCD said 80˚C, the thermometer said 82˚ - not bad. It still takes a long time to get h...

Re: Extruder bolt tightness

I had mine too tight and the white gear on the moveable piece was rubbing on the bottom of the PTC adapter. I don't know the torque, but if I tighten the screws so the rubber o-rings get squeezed, but not so much that they're bulging out, then the rollers grip the filament nicely. It took me 3 tries...

Onyx taking forever to heat up.

I tried out my ONYX bed for the first time tonight, but it heated up really slowly. I had it set to 110˚, but it took almost an hour to get to 90˚, and then never got any hotter. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I have a piece of regular glass on it. Is 1/4" too thick? Also, I didn't put ...

Re: LCD Smart Adapter

Sweet, that worked nicely! BTW, I solved the problem I was having above. The RAMBo isn't compatible with the most recent Arduino IDE, and v22 & v33 gave me errors when compiling. I started a new post in the RAMBo section that explains the fix: https://forum.seemecnc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&...
