Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
Thanks Brian, I added a fan and now the extruder motor is not heating as before and the PLA is not melting. I had several issues in fact. The extruder (resolved) and the retraction length was too much and the PLA was jamming inside the head in an area where it wasn't supposed to melt. Everything res...

SD CaRD Stand-Alone
Hi, I would like to use the stand-alone feature of the Rostock MaX V2 but there must be something I did bad. I copied some STL files on a SD Card and inserted it in the printer. Using the display and the knob I can select the file I want and when I press "enter", I hear 3 short beeps and n...

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
Well the problem is definitely the extruder getting too warm. After 10-15 minutes of printing I can't keep my hand on it and the filament is backing up inside it.

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
To update my previous post: I was wrong on my previous post. On my 4th try, I was able to pull the filament from the nozzle easily. But I've noticed something else: Closer to the nozzle the filament was smooth and even. But between the extruder to about 6" from the nozzle I could feel the gears...

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
I am having the same exact issue. I have been printing with ABS so far without any problem. I just started to use PLA yesterday after 15-20 minutes of printing the material back-up in the extruder and jam. First try, 200C. Second try 205C. Third try 210C. However, I was able to print more material b...

Re: Beeping sound alert
Thanks Rocketmagnet, I am using your M120 command and it works. it even makes a nice cricket sound that alerts me when the bed is at temperature and when the nozzle starts heating. This allows me to put a final coat of glue before printing. So far so good. I also found the M120 command in the slic3d...

Nice, i will try.
But where did you get this M120 command?
is there a list of command somewhere for the mattercontrol Software?

Beeping sound alert
In the Start G-code sequence I am trying to add a beep sound that will alert me when the nozzle starts heating. I am trying to use the M300 command but it does not work. Does matter control support this command? My Start G-code so far: M140 S{bed_temperature} M190 S(bed_temperature} M300 S440 P1000 ...

Re: Moving Aside and Wait
i see,
So when I enabled the extruder lift it was just taking a break beside the print while waiting for 4o seconds (the minimum time set right now).

Re: Moving Aside and Wait
Teoman, yes I am printing quite small stuff. in fact I was trying a bunch of different settings, fooling around a bit, and forgot that I have checked this "enable extruder lift", which I still do not understand what is it about since I thought the extruder was lifting at each "blank&q...

Well Mac The knife, you are right. I just unchecked the "enable extruder lift" in the cooling section and it resolved it.
Thanks

Moving Aside and Wait
Why is my nozzle moving aside and wait 10 seconds, restart printing for 3 seconds, move aside and wait, etc.....
is it from the Rostock Max printer itself? From the printing file? From Mattercontrol?
I'm confused. Bed and nozzle temperature are as it should.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Serge

No,
Nothing specific. I just like to understand what is going on and how I can resolve issues by myself.![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Hi,
Is there a complete manual for the MatterControl software, including a full explanation of all various settings? I found many articles on the web but nothing complete.
Thanks,

Re: Balancing the heating process
Thanks JFeeting and Teoman,
That was my problem. For some reason the command M104 was first, followed by M140. Both heaters were starting at once. That was an easy fix and also it is giving me the opportunity to get acquainted with G-code. That is a good start for me. Thanks.

Balancing the heating process
Hi,
I've noticed that the extruder will get to its preset temperature in a minute or two. The bed however will take 5 to 10 minutes to reach its preset temp. Is there a way to delay the extruder heating routine so both temperatures will be obtained at approximately the same time?
Thanks

Re: That's it - Fed up with the extruder thermistor
Well Captain Starfish, you made me realize that I might have been a bit harsh in my original comment and I am sorry about it. However, i see your point, i don't disagree, but it my case I prefer a sturdier assembly. No steppers motors were working during my last attempt, It was just at the preheatin...

Captain Starfish: I have been doing electronic projects for many decades and I know about perseverance and testing methods. But today, in 2015, It is not conceivable to assemble parts using silicone and to install this thermistor that seems to be designed for a circuit board application. Especially ...

That's it - Fed up with the extruder thermistor
Hi, I completed my Rostock Max a couple of days ago and was able to print several little objects. The engineering on this kit is absolutely awesome and I have no complains... Apart from the Extruder setup. What a piece of $@#$@#. When I installed the resistors and the thermistor I was surprised to s...

Re: Micro Switches quick tip
It may also be possible to flip the switches around and have the adjuster screw contact the little button directly... If you have to take them off to replace them anyway, you might try flipping them over first. Make sure it works by hand before homing the machine into a crash though. That is exactl...

Micro Switches quick tip
Hi, I just finished building my Rostock Max and broke two micro switch blades in the process. Living on an Island makes it difficult to get replacement parts. My quick and temporary patch: I removed the blade of the remaining switch and installed all of them backward, 180 degree from their original ...

hello,

I am looking forward to complete my Rostock Max V2, which I received last week, and to start printing. I am interested at this time in hydroponics.
