Re: Smoothiboard Hot Bed connection?

Each "big" MOSFET has its own power connection, so I think you can use 12V on one and 24V on another, but I'm not totally sure. I greatly improved my heated bed warmup time by simply putting a dish towel on it while it heats. Makes it come up to temp MUCH faster! I thought the big mofsets...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi

I got my USB stalling issues fixed by using a firmware.bin that has the msd_disable function included so I can turn off sd card access. Evidently the newest firmware has this left out. But it doesn't have your calibration functions. Would you mind compiling your firmware with msd_disable functionali...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi

When I ran G32 I got the following lines and a huge crash into the bed. Determining the probe-from height Probe-from height = 50520723.000 I got that fixed as in my above post. The big issue now is getting the USB to stop stalling. I can be jogging around, trying a G29 z0, G32, dry run a program, or...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi

Wow, what a long 17 hour day on this. For any of you in the same boat some day. issue an M502 from your terminal program reboot Smoothie erase firmware.cur or whatever other extension it might have copy a new copy of your firmware.bin to the sdcard power down the Smoothie and disconnect USB cable pl...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi

I'm having two issues. I believe the first caused the carnage. Even after disabling automount, my Win8 machine still opens the sdcard every time I plug in the USB cable. I've set dsd_disable to both true and false, no difference. So I went ahead and did my G29 and my probe was pretty consistent with...

Well, I found a partial answer, at least on the pictures being too large to fit the screen. I switched my Board Preferences/Board Style from prosilver to Metro Blue. Pics scale fine now.

Re: Does Your Rostock MAX v2 Hold Its Calibration?

I have 2 Max's. They just don't require recalibration, either one. There are 500 odd hours on the first and 200 or so on the second. I load them up in my truck with the passenger seat laid back and carry them by grabbing the Y tower and lugging it like a suitcase. I did make some shims to lock the t...

Not sure, looking at your spreadsheet, but make sure you account for shipping. It really adds up when sourcing from several vendors.

Re: Optimal speed without compromising quality

We ran our delta against a Makrbot with the Makrbot initially being faster until the number perimeter and top bottom layers was equalized and the infill was matched. Then the Rostock Max was done in almost half the time of the Makrbot. This is 100% slicer settings. You were comparing an apple to a ...

Re: Optimal speed without compromising quality

Also note how many perimeter, top and bottom layers are being printed as well as type and density of infill. All these things add up. We ran our delta against a Makrbot with the Makrbot initially being faster until the number perimeter and top bottom layers was equalized and the infill was matched. ...

Re: Build Platform and Projector Sync

I've had no problems with the timing in CW. The first layers' times and subsequent layers each have their own timing and don't require any editing for everything to be right on with regards to the exposure, retract and return to the next layer. For one resin I use I have a 12 second exposure for the...

Re: 5 axis machines

JFettig, I don't have any problems with rigidity, but I work almost completely in aluminum. My issue is the lack of speed as I normally machine using HSM. I have done some mods to mine which is the generation before what is on the web site now which likely contribute to rigidity. I understand earlie...

Re: Speed / Flow ??

Using the Speed Multiplier is a good way to experiment and look at what increasing or decreasing your speed in the slicer settings would do. Increasing the speed adjusts the speed of travel and the calculations on flow are adjusted as well to match the new speed. Increasing or decreasing the flow is...

Re: Steppers How Hot Is Too Hot At 24 Volts

The only thing I would add is to watch the extruder motor temp. It can conduct enough heat to the drive gear to soften filament and cause you trouble. We've had to cut the current back even on 12VDC on some machines.
