Re: MatterControl: Extruder only moves incrementally
Thanks so much for the response. I had gotten the impression that Cura was not exactly what I was looking for - but I monkey'd around with it since SeeMeCNC had suggested it when I asked for an MC replacement. Can you recommend a program that has features/controls like MC that can speak to the machi...

MatterControl: Extruder only moves incrementally
Hey folks. It’s been a long time since I’ve used my printer (Max V2, Marlin/reprap 091S) or posted here. Finally back at it and I’ve encountered some trouble. I did some searching here - but no luck. Last use of printer: 1 year ago on older Mac (OS 10.6?) running MatterControl. MC had always been so...

Re: Help with diagnosis
I'll Give it a shot slowing it down. I've been concerned with the Hobbed gear in the past. Granted, this hasn't effected the test/other prints. But they were all smaller. So maybe when it's trying to do larger travel at speed, it's slipping? I really don't understand the best way to set the tightnes...

Re: Help with diagnosis
The layer fan is definitely not running. The infill is at: Density - .2 Triangles Infill speed - 75mm/s Perimeter speed - 50 Outside perimeter speed - 35 Bridges speed - 60 First layer speed - 12 Do you think I'm moving too quick for the infill? Is it possible that this would effect a larger print i...

Re: Help with diagnosis
Thanks so much guys. I assumed the filament was starving - which is why I'd hoped that the cleaning would do the trick. I'm wondering if it is in fact a bad gcode/slice issue. Sorry I didn't provide more detail to begin with. I am using 1.75 ABS, the stock V2 nozzle (.5), mattercontrol interface usi...

Help with diagnosis
Hey folks. I've been humming along printing on my Mac V2, and loving every minute of it. I hadn't used it a couple weeks, and my first print turned out horrible. It seemed as if the infill was not printing at all. I then took the nozzle off, cleaned it and put it back on. I have checked the extrusio...

Re: Cheap MDF Enclosure with Plexiglass Door
Ha!
The only trick would be to get the cut to be the shape of the stock plate. I think here are plans floating out there somewhere though. Template would certainly help.

Re: Cheap MDF Enclosure with Plexiglass Door
This does look great. RE: ventilation. You could probably build the bottom of the enclosure just like a larger stock one - with a hole large enough to drop (gently!!! :) ) the whole thing right down through - allowing the base of the enclosure to line up with the top of the lower printer section. In...

Re: 3D Printed QuadCopter frame with Carbon Fiber arms
What props are those that broke? That's pretty bad to have them go before they were put under load. But better that than while you're up high. You can get some decent props for a good price that won't bust. HQProps or APC will last but are still good enough fkr learning on. Is this 650mm opposite mo...

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. It seems hit or miss whether there are supports generated.

Re: Little retraction help please
I did. I measured 3 times to make sure and it was only 1mm off when it was stock. I actually fixed it, figured it might as well be spot on.
I did try the extrusion multiplier down To .9 (from 1) for the last 2 prints and it seemed to tighten up the outside areas a bit.

Re: Problem with support material
Which slicer are you using? I've had some weird issues with support generation on my new max v2 using matterslice within the mattercontrol software. Haven't gotten a chance to try other software much, but it seems that trying the slice and/or support generation in another program might help.

Re: Little retraction help please
Thanks for the pics. I am definitely NOT having issues like that first pic. Thankfully, because that looks creepy! I'll try the fan and see how she does. I printed the shroud right away, but haven't wired it up because I haven't gotten PLA yet. Do you have any suggestion for fan %, and whether it sh...

Re: Little retraction help please
Thanks so much Jim. I have had some blobs in the middle of layers on other prints - which is one of the reasons I landed on this test for retraction issues. Just to see if I could check it off the list. Trying to be methodical, but it's just too fun to keep printing functional things I'm using - ins...

Little retraction help please
Hey folks. Been toiling away on the Rostock V2 for a little over a week. Total blast, I'm enjoying myself immensely. Still having a few issues that I'd like to resolve. I feel the mechanical alignments/tuning are sound. Z and end stops all level with a .002" feeler gauge. Bed is flat. Extruder ...

Re: Enclose effect on temperature settings...
Thanks for the tips. I don't think I'm moving that fast to begin with, but I'll check all settings and test a few different types of parts. I will also see what my borders are set at. I'm wondering about "acceleration" and the effect that may have on these corners and where the head moves ...

Enclose effect on temperature settings...
Hey folks. Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but here goes... I recently completed my first 3D printer build, the max V2. I have done a couple mods to it, the most recent being a shower curtain enclosure. While it's not as perfect as a poly enclosure (and doesn't look nearly as slick),...

I will set them like that when I put the clamps on.
Fan shroud printing now. Incredible to see it go from a box of parts to something making a functional item.
Thanks!

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L
Thanks Jim (great avatar BTW). I ended up rigging it with 2 short lengths of zip tie to act as a temp clamp. I've already gotten the calibration done as per the manual. And then I stumbled at the extrusion test. No life in the extruder stepper. But that's for another thread.... :) One last question:...

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L
Ah. I was hoping for an audio cue. At least I know what NOT to do, which is a huge help. Will these trucks be moving fairly freely on the towers? Or should there be a bit of resistance? The way I have it now it will definitely take the motors to work a bit. Not super tight, but certainly not ready t...

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L
Thanks so much MH. I already had them installed - so I was hoping for a quick/temp fix. I'll use the zip ties for now and they either print them myself if it works, or have my buddy print them for me on monday. I've gotten this build pretty far along, so I'm patience is wearing thin... :) Appreciate...

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L
Hey folks. Please forgive me if this has been covered, did a search and didn't see specifically what I was looking for. I am building my first ROSTOCK V2 (first printer ever), and ordered the trick trucks right out of the gate. I am installing them during the initial build and realized that I don't ...
