Re: I have 2 new ideas for build surface.
This is something that I am interested in. When everyone went with PEI I spent a good amount of time looking into tinting. I got busy and dropped it. If it doesn't warp with higher temps it might be a good candidate.

Yeah, I never thought about how I was going to get it off. Regardless, it's still going strong and doesn't look like it needs to be cleaned or re-applied like hairspray or glue stick would.

Re: Octoprint on Raspberry Pi performance issue
I'm using the logitech c615 and streaming 720 at 15fps. If you haven't, you could try lowering the FPS. There isn't really a need for that to be high at all, especially if your only using it for timelapse.

Re: Octoprint on Raspberry Pi performance issue
Or get the beaglebone black
But yeah, could be the camera and or resolution you're streaming at. I was trying to get 720p and had a much higher end webcam. My buddy on the other hand had no issue with his cheaper vga resolution cam.

Re: Octoprint on Raspberry Pi performance issue
I couldn't run octoprint on my raspberry pi if I had a camera hooked up. if mjpg-streamer is running it will slow it down. Download htop and run that to see where you're resources are going.
My solution was to switch to the beaglebone black. i haven't had an issue since.

Elmer's spray adhesive is amazing!
I had this stuff lying around and figured I would give it a shot. So far it's the best adhesive I've used (at least for PLA). I sprayed a thin layer on the glass and have gotten about a dozen or so prints so far. It doesn't leave any residue on the parts and doesn't make them too difficult to come ...

MatterHackers is probably the PLA I've used. Just a bit pricey.Sonrisa3D wrote:I have had nothing but great results from MatterHackers Pro filament, both ABS and PLA.

Re: Best quality plastic
Yeah, they should be more consistent with their units. I think the reason they sell them unspoiled is because the spools they have are a huge waste of plastic. I saw some made of cardboard a while back, it would be nice if the 1lb stuff came on that.

Re: Best quality plastic
So I got my kit (haven't opened the box yet), and I also got a roll each of PLA and ABS from Ultimachine. I was expecting them to be on spools, but they are just loose plastic in rolls. Does the printer itself come with a spool to use, or is that something I just need to order separate? Thanks ...

That looks like it would be much easier to assemble. What are they made out of? All the ones I'm finding are made out of aluminum.

Re: Whats up with S3D ?
I wonder when the trial stopped with simplify3d? I still have the email, but the link is dead. At any rate. Don't get me wrong, I won't say that Simplify3d has blown me away. However, I think that seam can be removed by using random starting points (one checkbox.) As far as making supports go, it's ...

Re: Whats up with S3D ?
A while back I had emailed them and they sent me a link to a 30 day trial version. I didn't use the trial version much because I got busy and couldn't figure it out. Anyways, I went ahead and bought it a few weeks ago. It's pricey, and different than what I'm used to...but the "Define you're own ...

Got mine too, fedex was FAST. It got to me a day early, despite the weather delay. At any rate, what Eaglezsoar said, tiny and I got a surprise too.Eaglezsoar wrote:Just received my Kraken and I am truly surprised by the size, it is TINY!
Nice little surprise in the box too, but I won't disclose what that is.
