Re: Greetings from Santa Cruz, and a question!

Re: new from benton ky

Also making those first 2 fan shrouds in abs as the first things you print (following the instruction manual) is such an ego boost that it carries you over any bombs with further calibration... so yes start out with Mater control and the MC slicer to build a base of experience going forward My E3D V...

Re: new from benton ky

Treat the build manual (download the newest version) as if it is holy writ. go by the words and check against the pictures do not try to assemble just from the pictures. read the manual in full to the end before you start. if the smell of the fresh c XX t by laser melamine parts (burned wood smell) ...

Re: Best way to splice the various wires?

I was taught to use the western union splice when lengthening wires and yes I would first Lightly tin the wires than just a touch more solder after trimming the excess from the splice don't glob it on... oh yes slip on a piece of shrink tube first... I am sure that no one on this board has ever made...

Re: Rostock Max V2, z tower "sticks" on first print

Did you twist each of the end stop wire pairs? Were you sure you only had end stop wires in one of the towers (did not run them dow the extrusions wit any of the other wiring) Did you make sure the they crossed or were crossed by any other wires on the top plate by as close to 90° as possible ? they...

Thoroughly clean the tip and its hex facets of the nozzle before each print I heat it up and wipe with a piece of leather belt to get it all off but if there is too much of it I know some folks Remove the nozzle and take a more physical route to cleaning off burnt plastic but if you do this with too...

As stunning as they are I too would not be a buyer of these. Since I cracked 2 of mine in bending them for installation last December i should be a prime target for these. My fix was to use some tin sheet I had handy and it I if wanted to I could get some of the so called glitter tape to cover them ...

Re: Tool for reaching nuts?

I was taught that good practice was to never reuse nylock nuts but that was in the context of working on yachts where a nut vibrating loose could have a less than optimal outcome in some areas of a boat... When i had my own boat for a while I used the procedures I learned making field repairs on air...

Re: Tool for reaching nuts?

Curved nose long reach needle nose let you come at the captured nut from side if you can get at it from both sides which is of course best but requires more disassembly, and keep it from turning in the melamine; you might need to file the tips of the pliers to thin points to be sure of jamming the n...

Your dentist has tools that have to be removed form service (the plating is worn so they can not be properly sterilized that sort of thing and these have been free for me just for the asking and they are incredibly useful for this sot of thing.
