Re: Cassetti's black Rostock MAX build
Almost second-guessed the placement of my idlers in the base because the pictures are misleading - when taken from above, it looks like the two are parallel, when in reality the rear one is mounted higher up. Here's a different angle shot of the idlers [img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8374/8554896...

Re: LCD controller
The connector pcb that comes with the smartLCD is for the Ramps card. The Rambo requires a different pcb available at Seemecnc.com for 10 bucks. If you look at the build thread that Cambo3D posted, he shows the new pcb that I am talking about. It is the pcb with the connectors that have to be solde...

Re: LCD controller
I seem to have the latest connector, but it doesn't appear to match anything on the rambo. The wiring document by geneb doesn't seem to apply. :?: I got my kit on Monday. There is some instructions floating around somewhere (The Geneb pdf instructions would work, but way more complicated than using...

Re: Cassetti's black Rostock MAX build
I can't believe the wrap around cover is white. I was going to order the black set, I'm glad i didn't. You should not have too paint anything but that white sure will stand out. Your graphic idea would really look cool, if you displace most of the white color. Hopefully Gene will be reading this an...

Re: First Timer
Last night I finished up the wiring for the hot end and got everything set up to print. Couldn't get much going. It did the G28 no problem, then it kept giving me mintemp errors so nothing else would work. I have 12V at all of the power inputs, but nothing coming out of the board going to either th...

Re: Cassetti's black Rostock MAX build
Current build progress: Yesterday I assembled the base and installed the top, secured the 3 motors and 9 pulleys in the base. Cassetti's black Rostock MAX build
Hey All! Here's my build log along with notes for anyone that may be building the R7 version of the model. My printer arrived Monday, almost exactly 330 hours after ordering it. Needless to say I took off Tuesday from work so I could spend most of the day building the printer! Note, I am maintaining...

Re: Best Tools for Wiring Molex Plugs?
I ended up purchasing these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007JLN93S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Little more than I hoped to spend, but I need a good crimper anyway, so I wasn't too upset. And since It's an amazon prime item, I was able to get overnight shipping for $3.99. Unfort...

Re: Best Tools for Wiring Molex Plugs?
Ugh, I used needlenose last time in conjunction with a pair of bare crimps I have, but the results were sub par, crimped too hard and ended up having a hard time inserting them into the plug properly, they would never seat correctly, I thin forcing them caused at least one to cut the divider and sho...

Best Tools for Wiring Molex Plugs?
Ok, I was *really* hopeful this kit would already have molex plugs pre-wired, or some alternative to forcing me to wire my own plugs! Long story short, Purchased a printrboard expecting a great newbie experience from the company for the prusa i2 I was building - didn't even know it wouldn't come wit...

Re: Lock nuts in notches??
Gotcha, now that I got the hang of it, I'm having an easier time. I'm using a pair of needlenose vice grips lightly holding the nut while I slide it into place. Fortunately after some digging at my local sears (man that place is going down hill fast) I found 1 3-pack of micro-files! That should help...

Re: Lock nuts in notches??
Yeah, I think a set of micro filers would be helpful - it does seem the laser cutter wasn't calibrated - cuts seem to be at a 5 or 10 degree angle for some of the panels - doesn't appear to be a major issue though

Re: Lock nuts in notches??
Yeah, I did find some fit into the slot very nicely - others just wont go willingly into the space! I think I need to file some edges to make some of these fit, i do have a few files, but i think my round one is the best fit... the triangular file i have is a bit of a tight squeeze...

Lock nuts in notches??
Ok, wow, I really hate to ask this but a quick search didn't turn up much Reading the geneb 1.13 manual and cross referencing against mhackney's excelent write up. However I ran into a small snag... The dang lock nuts don't seem to fit into place... does this mean I need to ruin my black finish by s...

Welcome! I know how it feels - since dipping into 3D printing with a Replicator at work last September, I've been HOOKED! My mind keeps running a mile a minute, what else can be done? How can this improve my quality of life? Whatever happens, I fully intend to be a part of home 3D printing from the ...

Re: LCD controller
Welcome to the forum. If you look under the official documents folder of the forum geneb has posted a nice manual on how to wire up the LCD to a Rambo board. The newest kits are supposed to have a connector so you don't have to do any custom wire harness. Under the "show us you machine" f...

Re: pre-wired interface adapter for lcd panel?
my kit came in about 7 days ago and it was not included with mine. must be a really new addition. John announced he was including them last monday around the 4th of march so any shipments after that "should" have them included. Just a followup - I ended up ordering the adapter just in cas...

Re: pre-wired interface adapter for lcd panel?
Really? Phew! I can manage soldering a *few* pcb's but the other instructions had me crosseyed! I'll give them a call tomorrow morning and see if they haven't shipped my kit yet to add that to the order.

pre-wired interface adapter for lcd panel?
Seriously, I'll pay someone to pre assembled an adapter.
I reviewed the pdf instructions twice now and have more doubt i can do this part myself........ Is there any supplier that sells an adapter for the rambo board included with the kit?
Thanks!

Re: Hi from Delaware!
Heh, thanks!
Unfortunately, I suspect the package will not arrive before Thursday (if it does ship today or tomorrow), of course my wife decided this is the weekend we're going to get away for a short vacation.
Just knowing that printer is sitting there begging to be built is going to kill me!

Hi from Delaware!
Hello fellow members! Mike here from Wilmington Delaware. I'll keep it short, Been working for a small IT company nearby for the past 9 years, boss finally decided to jump into the 3D printing world by buying me a Makerbot Replicator last september. I was tasked with setting it up and using it, thou...
