Re: Vertical Banding Revisited
Do cartesian printers with equivalent controllers get similar banding with curved surfaces? I would assume that cartesian systems do piecewise linear interpolation on curves, while deltas do piecewise curvilinear interpolation on straight lines.

Re: azteeg x5 usb wont mount
Can you read the memory card directly when plugged into both PCs? Is it only your USB connection of the X5 that is having the issue? Have you tried another memory card? I had a bogus memory card on a Smoothieboard that eventually failed so that I could read from my Mac but it would not read on the ...

Re: !!!! DANGER DANGER !!!!
You can change the HEATER_PWM_SPEED in Repetier's Configuration.h to go as low as 15Hz (value = 0). I have mine at setting #1 (30 Hz) and it's been fine so far. That's good to know. I couldn't find that entry in the default RostockMax Repetier configuration.h file. Where is it located in your file?

Re: !!!! DANGER DANGER !!!!
I blew a couple of Fotek SSRs with heatsinks myself and went back to hooking up directly to the Rambo board with my 24V power supply. I wonder if the PWM frequency is too high for these cheaper SSRs. I think some people hook them up with bang-bang control instead of PWM for that reason although they ...

Re: azteeg x5 smoothie Very odd endstop issue
Its acting like the Y and Z endstop signal lines are tied together. I suppose its possible there is a problem on the board. One thing you could try just to see if you can get the thing going is to swap the Z signal line to one of the inputs on EXP1 or EXP2 (e.g. 1.22), then change the config file ...

Re: Non-Bowden E3D Hotend
So I printed it and (with effort) screwed the threads of a pneumatic coupling into it but while just testing the extruder feed the coupling popped out. I fired up my soldering iron and heated up the coupling while screwing it in again and it's staying put for now but I'm not confident it'll hold ...

Re: Non-Bowden E3D Hotend
The v5 bowden heatsinks are totally gone at this point, apparently. Anyone have any suggestions on how to modify/remake that mounting piece to fit a pneumatic coupling? Too bad they don't have any more. I would just print out the top part of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:57889 and use that ...

Re: Traitorous thoughts
I've tried both. The Astrosyn dampers are significantly quieter than cork, which is significantly quieter than the stock RMax setup. With the Astrosyn dampers, the loudest sound on my RMax is a layer fan or E3D cooling fan.geneb wrote:How do the cork dampers compare to the Astrosyn devices?

Re: Non-Bowden E3D Hotend
Here's one I used for my E3D-V4 that was before they had a bowden option. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:57889 Edit: Another option is you can get a Bowden V5 heatsink for $23.95 from Filastruder here . If you don't have it, you'll need one of E3d's Bowden couplings which you can also get from ...

Re: temp 0 defect issue...
I assume when you say you reconfigured the ports, that you changed the pin assignments in Repetier firmware pins.h in the Rambo section of the header file? My first temp input went bad and I reconfigured here and it worked using another input.

Do you have any Z lift? I had trouble with the head tapping on each column a little when rapidly moving between them which screwed up the layer alignment until I added a z-lift.

Re: Quantifiable improvement?

There is a little messing around to get the Arduino libraries set up right to compile and download. Some the pins were named somewhat ...

Re: Quantifiable improvement?
Not really. Apparently there is too much noise on the IC2 bus so they are not recommended: http://smoothieware.org/panel However, one of the smoothie developers - wolfmanjm - has a an adapter that uses a cheap Arduino mini to use these panels. I plan to try this but haven't yet. I am using the Viki ...

Re: Bowden tube and wires getting stuck
Twice when I've tried to print over a moderately big area of my build platform, the bundle of wires and bowden tube coming down from the top has gotten stuck on nuts. The steppers thus skip steps with a grinding noise and the job is ruined. Has anyone else had this problem? What's the proper length ...

2. ALWAYS, ALWAYS unmount the CF card before running. I was on MacOSX and I can't even begin to tell you all of the homing issues I experienced due to this. Common wisdom is to unmount on all platforms. The Linux guys simply don't allow the card to auto-mount. There seems to be some very ...

What is your gamma_max value set to in your config file? You can try entering "M665 Z[max Zvalue for your printer]", then home the machine again and see if that lets you move afterwards. If that helps, than set gamma_max in your config file and reboot smoothie, or enter M500 to create an override ...

If you buy a micro SD card from a local store (they use them on cameras too- I picked one up at Wal-Mart), they usually come in an adapter which turns them into a standard SD card. Hopefully you can read that on your computer.Generic Default wrote: I don't think my computer has a slot for this kind of SD card...

OK- so I put a blank micro SD card in the smoothieboard and my PC can read it even though the Smoothieboard does not load anything from the card. Must be an issue with driver or SD card.
