Re: users in NM Arkansas

Hi Bigalstew,

I have had my Rostock Max for about a year now. I'm located in Bentonville. I don't have much time to keep up with the forum lately, but yes. There are a few users in the NW Ark area. I know there is another person building one too.

Mac Repetier and slic3r update

I am running Repetier 0.56 for Mac. I was running slic3r 0.9.7 with no problems. I decided to try the new slic3r and things went south. I installed the new slic3r in a new folder. I was able to slice my .STL, and all looks okay. I run into problems when I actually try to run the gcode in the Host so...

Re: help with print

Thanks Flateric - That was the conclusion I arrived at. Try 1 - Slowing down print after about 10 layers and dropped the temp by 5. Later dropped the temp by 10. Cooling fan was left on, but it only points to the front of the print. The back was still squishy due to no cooling try1-front.jpg You can...

Re: help with print

I am currently trying a few different combos. i have added a second item to the print bed and moved it away from the original print. I also dropped the temp down by 10 after layer 10. i have made adjustments to not have the fan on at all while printing ABS. I will report back on the progress.

I will give that a look, but I think I have them routed separately from the stepper wires. I will double check.

Re: Z axis acting funny

Okay. I booted my mac and cycled power on the printer. I wanted to start everything from scratch. I checked 4 pin connectors and end stops. I started playing around with home and noticed that the Z would stop every now and again a few mm away from the end stop. Hummmm? I would home again and it woul...

Re: Z axis acting funny

thanks for the suggestions. I will start trouble shooting the connectors and end stops. Also, I've not done the disconnect/reconnect while homing. I will start doing that to see if that elimates any burps! The sad part, is I just got my fan mount printed out and attached about 2 weeks ago. I put the...

Z axis acting funny

I have over 200 hours on my rostock, and it was printing great up until about 3 days ago where it knocked into the print and made a birds nest. I didn't think too much about it, so i restarted the print. This time it didn't wait to mess up, it did it on layer 2. I tightened my belts and made sure al...

Re: The Ultimate Rostock Thing Collection

I made a quick spacer for my extruder. It doesn't look like much but helps cut down on the noise of my extruder.

150 hour maintance

After about 150 hours on my printer, I noticed that it started getting out of alignment about every other print. I checked the belts, and all the teeth look good, but the belt had stretched a bit. A two minute job fixed them, and I spent another few minutes making sure I was still calibrated. I thin...

Re: ideas on troubleshooting this print

Thanks all. I said single wall cube, but I intended to say a cube with 1mm walls. Sorry. My bad on that one. I've taken everyone's suggestions and made changes. I'm giving it a test print now. I will do a single wall test as well.

ideas on troubleshooting this print

I'm working on getting a good print, but I keep getting some bits hanging out of the edge of the print. I decided to go back and print some test calibration stuff, and this is how thin wall cube turned out. It is ABS printed at 240deg on to a 70deg glass with hairspray. I printed one at 235deg and i...

Re: Print from SD card using Polygonhell's firmware

I have downloaded the updated seemecnc repetier firmware from github. Will I have to recallibrate my machine after updating the firmware? I expect I will need to adjust the firmware settings as my Z height and ect. unless it pulls from the printer EEPROM values?

Re: Hot end smokes now (ugh)

I switched over to the heater cartridge a few weeks ago. I like it better. It does take a bit longer to heat up to printing temp, but that is the only con I see with it. I used the hightemp tape to secure it so I can see and I didn't have to wait the 24 hours for the high temp silicone to dry.

Re: Print from SD card using Polygonhell's firmware

Good call foshon. I was doing that a few days, until I figured it wouldn't slice it then print it. I've loaded up by mounting the SD card on my laptop. I moved it over to the SD card slot and mounted the card. I was able to go to the print file option and find my file called fsm.gco. I selected it, ...

Re: Laser tagger build

I've made some more progress on my laser tagger build. I've got a lens cap prototype made. I've also got a lens holder needed so I can measure the focal length of my lens and LED combo. I mocked up what I'm going for with some paper. End cap - prototyped Lens tube - PVC pipe LED Holder - need to mak...
