Re: Pictures!

Here are some current pics of my printer. I was printing ABS with the enclosure heated to 40C when this picture was taken.

Cheers,

Re: My Rostock v3 Max Modding/Upgrade Adventure

PengLord, Your interest has spurred me to start posting. I'll be uploading to Thingiverse and here with images today. I started with a quick post at Thingiverse of my bed clips for the FlexPlate as you need those ASAP. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2801924 I have pics to post, but they will take...

Re: My Rostock v3 Max Modding/Upgrade Adventure

Thanks. I have the Duet on my list of future upgrades. Sound doesn't matter since my printer is in a detached garage. And, while the calibration really would have been a draw, like Gene said, the OctoPrint plugin works wonders. I can print anywhere on the bed and get a beautiful first layer. Most im...

Re: My Rostock v3 Max Modding/Upgrade Adventure

Gene,

Are FSR's superior to the HE280 accelerometers?

Since the Octoprint Delta Cal Plugin, I've been getting excellent calibration on my Rostock. However, I do like the idea of the even more adaptable calibration with the Duet.

Cheers,
Tim

Re: My Rostock v3 Max Modding/Upgrade Adventure

I was just reading up on the HE280 probe converter so that the probe works on the Duet. That is one that i want to do, but I have build two effectors that incorporate the HE280 boards and love the auto-calibration (I use the plugin on OctoPrint). So, what is FSR ? I'm always looking for ways to pimp...

Re: Can't Add File To Library

I am assuming that this is in MatterControl under Windows? If you have already tried everything else, make sure that you are syncing all of your settings with the MatterControl cloud. Export any settings that you can. Then uninstall and reinstall MatterControl. In any case, if this is a MatterContro...

My Rostock v3 Max Modding/Upgrade Adventure

This post is intended as a teaser and a bit of a goad to get me to fill out the information. Initially, I'm just posting a list of my upgrades, but I'll fill it out as time permits in the order that interest dictates. Some of the mods are based on available things (at Thingiverse), but others are de...

Re: Silencing The noise (Duet Upgrade)

For those of you who upgraded to the Duet: Does it work with the accelerometer probe on the HE280? I have designed and built effectors for the E3D and PrometheusV2 hot ends that use HE280 boards, so I'm pretty wedded to getting the HE280 probe to work if I upgrade the RAMBO. Thanks in advance for an...

Re: Building an enclosure

I built Noircogi's Slim Enclosure from Thingiverse (see link below). I ordered the acrylic pre-cut from TAP Plastics and followed the list of fasteners and directions for building it. It came out awesome. I also designed some smooth and light fan ducts (see below). I have had some heating issues due...

Yeah, I see the "killed" message on over night prints that completed successfully. Glad to know the origin.

Re: Part fan modification for tight enclosure

I've printed and installed these. Thanks for the excellent design!

If I get motivated, I may redesign these with a bit more curviness and a bit more length to duct the air right down near the nozzle. If I manage it, I will post here with links.

Thanks again!

My Backpressure Issue: Solved!

This may or may not help if you have a different root cause, but this solved the backpressure issue for me. Root Cause: My Bowden tube was not fully inserted into the hot end and plastic was melting above the heat break. 1) You need to clear that plug above the heat break: Get the nozzle to flow pla...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

Polygonhell, Thanks for the tough love. I tore down, cleaned, and reinstalled my hot end. Then, using mhackney's instruction from a previous thread, locked the Bowden tube to the hot end with the lobster claw and then pushed it in again (felt like I got 1mm or more or additional tube into the hotend...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

So, you think that it is a hotend issue. The installed thermocouple seems to be working and reporting temperatures that make sense. You mentioned extruder current. I can measure that, I suppose. Do you mean current to the heating element? What other things can I look at and rule out? I have disassem...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

This is a print that I did overnight. Info: MatterSlice, MatterHackers PLA, 220C extruder, 65C bed, Rostock V3 stock nozzle (dia set to 0.4mm), 0.3mm layers, max print speed 35mm/s. When I used 0.5mm as the nozzle dia, I got problems with the extruder motor slipping and bouncing when printing _much_...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

Also, I had tons of extrusion issues until I set my nozzle size to 0.4mm (although all the docs say that the V3 comes with 0.5mm). Now, I'm getting good prints with 90% of default speeds. Is the nozzle dia indicated anywhere on the nozzle? If I am lying to Matterslice about the nozzle diameter, what...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

I finally have a good calibration (mostly hand calibrated) and I'm hesitant to try auto cal again. However, I've realized that, if I leave the end-stop screws alone and backup my EEPROM settings, I can try and roll back if it doesn't work. I'll post results using the new calibration circle diameter....

Re: Backpressure Issue

I've had similar issues with my printer and had to print super-duper slow to get consistent results and, at 50% speed, still needed to print my PLA at 218C to get it to flow without the extruder skipping. I'm suspecting a couple of possibilities that I'm working on eliminating. First, I think that I...

Greetings from Sunny Pasadena, CA

Hello All!

I am the proud owner of a new, recently assembled, Rostock Max V3. Now I need to figure out the mysteries of calibration and tuning for different filaments.

I'm off to post to the Rostock V3 forum.

Cheers!

Re: Rostock Max v3 calibrating script.

I have been getting repeatably bad calibrations using cold hotend and bed. When I calibrate the result is just right in the middle, low on the front edge and a little high in the back. My solution has been to run the calibrating script with my endstop screws in a neutral position and then perform th...
