Re: Favorite Cartesian Printer? 2017

Like everything else it depends what you want to do and what you want to spend. If being able to use open source slicers isn't important, the UP Mini is a really good printer for the price, and just about hits your 6x6x6 requirement, haven't tried mine with Nylon, but the V2 allows you to set the ex...

Re: Rostock v1 Extruder constantly jamming

Given you've tried different extruders, different hotends and different plastic, and still have the issue, I'd be inclined to say it's print settings. The first thing I'd check is that the temperature is as reported using a thermocouple set the temperature to 210 on the E3D and verify it's actually ...

He has the steppers for two of the towers swapped, along with the end switches or it wouldn't home properly.
He probably transposed the X/Y/Z labels when wiring.

Re: File Conversion, DS Mechanical to Fusion 360?

From the DS developers standpoint not supporting STEP and IGES export is a good way to lock people in, I assume their intent is to have people invested enough that when they decide to upgrade they are more likely to select their own expensive product rather than someone elses. Having said that thoug...

Re: Thermistor resistance and "def"

If the resistance is correct, the Rambo should show a reasonable temperature about 20C for 100KOhms. You are I assume measuring the resistance with the thermistor disconnected from the board? If you plug the hotend thermistor into the Bed connection does it read reasonably? they are identical parts....

If your off my over 3 inches as you state, and assuming it was just a crash and you haven't reset the EEPROM or something, it's probably more than just a calibration issue. The odds are when you collided with the bed either you damaged something or at least loosened it. I would check that the Belts ...

I've also tried getting a Ramps going with a SeemeCNC Rostock. I halted at needing multiple fan controls. I actually made up a simple on/off fan control board that I'll hook upto the servo pins (+ the 12V pin used for the board fan). I guess people didn't use multiple fans back in the days of using...

Re: Filament choices for outdoor applications

I wouds have suggested ABS as well until recently, but my recent discovery of "annealed" PLA (HT or otherwise), I'd probably go with that unless you needed to last for many years. I've never seen PLA degrade from being outside as long as it's out of the sun, but it is supposed to be "...

I have a fog buster as well, I was going to make one, but in the end I decided it wasn't worth my time given the cost of the commercial unit. I have both the Fog Buster and Flood on my mill, flood is nice to have, but you really need the machine to be entirely enclosed (and my mill isn't) or coolant...

On a HE280 you should probably be closer to 2mm than 6mm retraction. You don't say what sort of filament PLA? PET? ABS? Some filament is worse than others, sometimes even the same filament from order to order. I've never had a roll of PET I could completely eliminate stringing on even with an E3D V6...

Re: Can someone tell me how to correct this print

Those sorts of gaps can also be the result of minor backlash, give the platform a wiggle and see how solid it feels when the steppers are engaged, if doesn't feel solid, you'll have to track down why, belts are a good place to start. It can also be printing the first layer too fast if the adhesion i...

I recalibrate mine if I remove the buildplate or the hotend, or change the firmware, which might be once every couple of months or so.
But even then the only real adjustment I end up making is Z Height.

Interestingly the accelerometer thing was tried a long time before SeeMe, I think I remember reading a thread on the Delta Google group, but it could have been the RepRap forum. The people who tried it couldn't get it to work reliably. It's a really attractive solution if you can get it to work reli...

Just an FYI in case you intend to the the gear reduced stepper motors for precision work.
IME geared steppers tend to have enough backlash to swamp the reduced step size, the ones I tested were 50:1.

Re: bad temperature readings on Rostock max v3

It's very unlikely you have 2 bad thermistors. It's likely that there is a short in the wiring somewhere, I know I had a bed thermistor read very high at room temperature, when one of it's legs was touching an exposed metal piece on the beds heating element. You can do the same thing if the thermist...

Re: New E3D V6 Thermistor troubles

It should be 100KOhms at 25C, it will be slightly higher at lower temperatures, but not 80KOhms. You might want to contact E3D support, you can damage them by over tightening the set screw, but they usually just fail. Just make sure you have a good solid connection between the probes and the wires, ...

Re: New E3D V6 Thermistor troubles

I assume you disconnected it from the board to test it, you can't get a valid reading with it plugged in.
If it really is reading that high, there is either something wrong with the thermistor or the wiring. I'd start by measuring at the last connector and then measure each of the plugs.

Re: Skin separated from fill.

Infill not reaching the wall is usually a function of backlash/slop in the system. Given you say it's only happening at the top of the print, I'd move the hotend to a position near where it happens and give it a general wobble test, comparing how it feels in areas that do not exhibit the issue. If i...
