Re: ABS recommendations

I'll add that I recently tried the plastic film from GeckoTek (http://www.geckotek.co) on my Artemis. It works incredibly well with ABS, but to a fault. The adhesion is so strong and uniform that it's really difficult to remove prints with a large bed contact area, even after the machine has cooled ...

Re: Motor Currents?

My WiFi reliability with the Artemis is so bad that I recently purchased the wired Ethernet version of the Duet.

Re: Motor Currents?

Good info David, thanks. The Duet is in the top sheet metal cavity of the Artemis, and while there is a fan in the stock config, I've found that keeping the metal cover on dramatically impacts my WiFi reliability, so I run it with the cover off. There's good air circulation in my environment and I'v...

Re: Lubricating linear rails?

I did tell him about the noise on a few occasions (which is why he sent me the new idlers), but I didn't send a specific email after solving the problem.

I'll do that and just point him to this thread.

Re: Belt Tensioning

When I received my kit, it was obvious from just a cursory visual inspection that the distance between the lower idle puller assembly and the bottom edge of the linear rail was not the same on each of my axes, which meant the belt tension was inconsistent. To compensate for this, I whipped up a litt...

Re: Motor Currents?

I can corroborate the need to play with especially extruder current limits; mine (totally stock) was skipping terribly when I first got it. I goosed it up in increments until it didn't skip any longer, then added 100mA to that value just for some insurance. I don't see any downside, and none of my m...

Re: ABS recommendations

The best solution by far I've tried for printing ABS on glass is Airwolf's Wolfbite product. It's a liquid solution (viscosity of water) you simply brush on the glass and allow to dry. It leaves your prints clean and smooth without having to deal with the horrible sticky mess of glue, ABS juice, hai...

Re: Lubricating linear rails?

Good thoughts, Jeff. I'll add this for anyone else who is facing this issue. When I complained about this to SeeMeCNC, Steve sent me some new idler pulleys which he said were of better quality than the originally shipped ones. I tried replacing them, but as you can see from the picture (newer one is...

Re: Lubricating linear rails?

Hi Bones056 - I had the same squeaking issue and it nearly drove me out of my gourd! My coworkers would come into my office and ask me if I was torturing a kitten, which was especially painful as I bought my Artemis in part to be very quiet in an office environment. I was so annoyed with the thing t...
