Re: How to easily retrofit third wire for end stops
I thought I was encompassing both high precision and high accuracy by saying high accuracy LOL. :D You are correct. I want both high precision and high accuracy. I have no plans to run other wires close to the extrusion other than the two wires encompassed within, so I should be OK in terms of short...

How to easily retrofit third wire for end stops
I have an older version of the Rostock Max kit that came with two wire end stops and mechanical end switches. Unfortunately for me, those end switches seem to not deliver enough accuracy to resume a print after homing the printer. Now that I have switched over to the smoothieboard for processing dut...

Re: Rostock Max Smoothieboard Tutorial
Edited. I figured out what I did wrong. I had my X and Y tower motor connections switched. When one tower would hit the end stop, the wrong motor would keep turning trying to move it home. Man do I ever feel dumb...

Re: Rostock Max Smoothieboard Tutorial
If M119 shows the endstops work correctly, check to see whether anything is interfering with the carriage mechanically depressing the switch. I'm using some custom carriages, and I found that the Z axis kept crashing into the endstop. It turned out to be that the endstop switch mount was protruding...

Re: Rostock Max Smoothieboard Tutorial
I am having an issue with the unit crashing the carriages when homing. I tested the end stops with m119 and it gives me a 1 for each end stop only when depressed and 0 otherwise, which is correct. I tried removing the ^ after the directly copying the config in the beginning of this thread as well as...

I have machinekit and LinuxCNC installed and running. Step Sticks are here and I am standing at the threshold of starting to hook the power, stepper motors and sensors to this bad boy and start calibrating the software to the machine. Very exciting stuff!!

I have purchased the BBB and CRAMPS board and I'm currently waiting for the step sticks to arrive (that will take up to a month unfortunately). My Rambo blew a channel on me. I want to upgrade to more power and more modularity with this setup. I would really appreciate some guidance from you on what...

Re: 300 C+ HOTEND
Heh. Keokolo, I will point out that E3D and matterhackers both provide PEEK filament, that E3D rates it's hotends to 400C+, and similar. The Rostock Max is also an extremely capable and adaptable machine. I doubt that Airwolf's machines can beat a well-tuned, well modded Max like Mike's. For that m...

Re: Smoothieboard + Dual Extruders. :-)
I use a high temp thermal paste called Red Ice 611 HTC. It's pricey and only available from one source, but it does work really well and is rated to 360C. I don't have the screw in thermistor (I have the V5 E3D I think, which doesn't have the threaded thermistor port). That being said, I noticed sma...

Re: Parts for Science Exhibit, WaterDrop machine
From what I saw in that video, it seems like there is a strobe timed to close to the same rate as the droplets that are coming down and the machine simply illuminates each droplet as it makes it's way to the water at the same progression, which appears to stop/reverse or slow time depending on the f...

If you start losing Z height on the effector and it won't stay adjusted, check to make sure your stepper motor pulleys have proper flats ground into the shaft and use fresh blue loctite to hold the set screws tightly in place. If those slip even a little bit, it will make printing miserable and almo...

I have printed a bit of PC. I use ABS glue on a pyro glass bed. It works and I have had no issues with damaging the bed. I get smooth prints usually. I also print a 10mm or 20mm brim to help maintain adhesion through longer prints.

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:270375 This is the part. These parts were made out of plastic before and I believe they should hold up OK if they were printed using a modern quality plastic like Polycarbonate. The original parts cracked and eventually failed. If printed with low humidity, the part...

Oster Food Dehydrator

Very nice work! I like that a lot. May try it if I have need for it. I need to get a vacuum setup for my router and compound sliding miter saw as well. May make some adapter attachments for them (the shop vac was free, but it has odd sized hoses etc.) while I'm at it.

Re: Odd z height behavior and globbing
I had Z height issues for the longest time until I removed the belt pulley for each motor and made sure the flats I had ground were really deep and then put on fresh loctite on the pulley mount screws and fastened them tightly. Once that was complete, I have had no other Z-height issues since and I ...

Re: Those little holes (Warning big image)
One thing I have found that helps to eliminate those gaps is to set the infill width to be slightly less wide than the extruder nozzle width. My extruder nozzle (E3D V4) is .4 mm and I have the infill set to .39. If you leave that entry blank, Slic3r will set it to 1mm or more, which helps to create...

I'd love an espresso machine, but I'm just too cheap to pay for one. I wish I were printing parts for my own espresso machine because that would mean that I own an espresso machine. LOL

Re: New shower head for my coffee maker
Captain Starfish - It's a regular drip coffee maker and not an espresso machine. It's a high end coffee maker that has only one real Achilles heel. That would be the shower head that drops the water into the filter basket. It's really small and it doesn't spread the water around much. I want better ...

Re: Found a quick way to unclog nozzles
My burned out nozzles seem to print just fine so long as I don't try to push the envelope. I think all nozzles would perform the same. They print Taulman 645 with ease. Haven't tried the ABS with it yet, but that's next on my list.
