Re: Layer cooling for MAX METAL platform

I ended up painting the hot end directly, and it seems to have worked pretty well. I'll post a photo when I get home. I did notice some people were coating their molds with something before putting the silicone in.

Re: Layer cooling for MAX METAL platform

I picked up some self bonding silicone tape, but I'm having trouble figuring how to get it onto the hot end nicely. Do I just go right over the wires and everything? Anyone have a photo of their wrapped hot end? Google image search didn't turn up much. What would you guys think if I just painted the...

Hey Brian, will you pat a photo of your wrapped block so I can see how it goes on? Thanks!

Re: Layer cooling for MAX METAL platform

For anyone following along still, the real issue here is that moving air blows up onto the heater block, causing a low temp extrusion. I found the perfect solution: BZ2tvKhr.jpg Since I couldn't actually find any for sale, I was thinking it would be sufficient to dip my hot end in some automotive si...

Re: Layer cooling for MAX METAL platform

You raise a good point, but I think it is okay in this case because the 2 fans are angled perpendicular-ish to the peek fan, creating a corridor for the air to escape through the fins. It's more clear in this photo. What I really have to figure out is how to to turn the air down. I've never had this...

Re: Layer cooling for MAX METAL platform

Yep, poor layer adhesion, that's happening. What's the point of epic cooling with multiple fans if it grants poor layer adhesion. I need to rethink this.

Layer cooling for MAX METAL platform

I've been enjoying the new MAX METAL platform by trick laser. Just messing around with new ways to mount layer fans since there is ample room now with the open aluminum design.
Running tests with it now. I'll update as I make progress. So far it seems to be working pretty well.

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

I think us water rockets is mostly just unhappy about the removal of Ethernet, and is sour graping the rest. Moving to wifi is a strategic decision for the duet that most folks will probably be okay with. And those that aren't will probably be fine with doing the micro usb or micro sd option.

Looks nice! I wish there were a way for us to see it in action. We'd need some kind of colored wind or something.

Yes, that's the first thing I tried. It's been on for a few days, and through multiple prints. I just can't modify the eeprom.

Warning - No EEProm Mapping

I'm getting this message when I click Configure for EEProm under the hardware section in MatterControl. "Oops! There was no eprom mapping for your printer's firmware. You may need to wait a minute for your printer to finish initializing." I can still print, but I wanted to update my PID va...

So you're referring to advice on a non-3d printing oriented forum giving out bad 3d printing advice? What I think he means is, he looks at other forums about other things, and they give bad advice about those things. Therefore, he wants to know if we give bad advice as well, or are we a reputable b...

PEI is amazing!

I'm really impressed with this PEI. Here is my story: I've been using build-tak which has been a nice material to print on but sometimes the prints get really stuck to it and the removal damages the surface. I went through 2 of those at $25/ea. I heard about PEI here so I thought I'd give it a go. I...

I have upgraded my v2 with the carbon fiber arms from trick laser. (here) How do I determine my Diagonal Rod Length?
