Take this with a grain of salt, since my Max isn't printing yet :) I wonder if you have moisture in the filament? That can cause those sorts of bubbles/pockets, as far as I have read. Was the filament in a sealed wrapper? Maybe try sticking it in a sealed up bucket of rice or some other dehydrating ...

In my version of the Guide, this starts on page 35, just above Figure 2-40. Do the bottom first, install the shoes and then do the top.

It's actually not Tamiya, it's from Great Planes which is available at Tower Hobbies. It's the quarter inch width, which fits perfectly.

Gene notes this in the manual. Those rounded areas don't impact anything, the fact that they are different is merely cosmetic. Do a dry fit of the components and you'll see what I mean. Mine were like that too.
