Shorts between hot end wiring and thermistors are surprisingly common, which is why we designed the Duet WiFi and Duet Ethernet to withstand them.

Is your tower spacing exactly the same at top and bottom? A larger spacing at the top would cause shrinkage with increasing height. If it's not that, maybe it's something to do with heat rising from the bed.

We're working on a test pattern generator for calibrating pressure advance. Meanwhile a simple way is to print a single walled cube in vase mode at quite a high speed and adjust the pressure advance to get the best corners. No need to use Matter Control, the Duet firmware has had least squares calibration built in since early 2015. Just make sure you have the Z probe type set to 0 (P0 in the M558 command in config.g), set up a bed.g file, and command auto calibration form the web interface. See https://duet3d.dozuki.co...

The motor current you need to get a certain resolution is independent of the supply voltage. The advantage of using a higher voltage (e.g. 24V instead of 12V) is that the stepper drivers can maintain the requested current up to higher speeds.

You can use any slicer you like, if you export the GCode to file and then upload it to the Duet using the web interface. Some slicers (e.g. slic3r and Cura) have the facility to upload to a Duet themselves after slicing.

If you think you are getting ver extrusion, just use the web interface to reduce the extrusion a little. I favour 1.75mm filament and extruders with about 3:1 gearing. I've always used 1.8deg motors to drive them, not the 0.9deg motors that E3D suggests for the Titan; however it looks like with 12V power and 0.9deg motors, around 50mm/sec should be achieveable, which is probably sufficient. It doesn't help that the motor in your Titan is 0.9deg, whereas a 1.8deg motor is adequate for a geared extruder. You might like to plug your figures into the motor speed/voltage calculator at http://reprapfirmware.org/.

The Duet can only change the peak stepper motor current in 100mA increments. The firmware is designed so that if you ask for a multiple of 100mA, you get what you asked for. That pattern of ridges and valleys along the X axis suggest backlash in joints or carriages, making the nozzle height above the bed depend on which direction you approach the XY point from.
