Re: PLA Woes
OSR, I've had a machine (a Leapfrog) with many woes and many dead-ends, just as you have described. It ended up that the extruder just couldn't run PLA effectively (the company admitted this). I know that this isn't the case with the Rostock Max, since I've printed out some absolutely stellar tests ...

Re: E3D V4 All metal hotend
A latecomer here... Just read this entire thread, all 22 pages of it! Great information. Given my desire to print PLA at stellar quality, I'm thinking I'll go ahead and dive in and get an e3d. I just had one of the stock bowden tube fittings break (hot end jam, caused it to blow the tube out). I am ...

Re: Strings blobs and a jammed extruder
I unjammed the extruder... It was the aluminium threaded cylinder which holds the filament tube locking thingy in place. I rewound the filament and forgot to cut off the melted end, which promptly jammed in there.
Cool tip: Freeze that aluminium block and the filament was pretty easy to pop right out.

Re: Strings blobs and a jammed extruder
I don't think the z lift helped much. Perhaps I need to go larger (I only went from .2 to .3 lift) ... I will try this on the next attempt.

I'm continuing this thread here since it seemed more fitting to a run of failed prints

Strings blobs and a jammed extruder
Sometime last night, the filament tube popped off and metres of filament spilled out. Currently it's jammed, awaiting a fix, but I was able to see the majority of the print done. Even without the filament mess up, it's got some issues. This is sort of a continuation from this thread: http://forum.se...

Re: Spiderweb thin ABS as nozzle leaves
Retract helped a little, there are some blobs on the location still, I'll do the randomize now.

Spiderweb thin ABS as nozzle leaves
Two opposite sides of a thin walled print: This is the location of the nozzle leaving one side and moving over the opposite. It initially left a spider web of ultra thin strands between the two. Thoughts on this?...

Is there a list of machine specifics?
I was attempting to do a full extruder calibration as recommended in the assembly manual: http://reprap.org/wiki/Triffid_Hunter%27s_Calibration_Guide However, I have no idea where to find the answers to these, questions: - Know your stepper motors' full steps per revolution value. steps = 360 / angl...

I have not been able to find a definite answer - some say .5 and some say .3.

Re: Rostock Max 25mm test cube. First print!
Thanks for the encouragement, yes I was pleased with it - compared to the last printer I had this is printing better on the test print than it ever did, even after months of tweaking. The blobs visible are from the bridging yes, but there were a few little ones littering the internals before it got ...

Rostock Australia Signing in
My dad and I went halves in a Rostock Max a few months back and have been slowly piecing it together in between work. I amped up the progress since I got laid off last week, so it's almost done! I blew up a hot end resistor and so am waiting on a few fuses (Please SeeMeCNC, include 2 spare fuses!) T...

Re: Very low voltage for hot end power
Oh. I was afraid of this... I will check fuses now.... Actually it looks like one of them has blown, the one closest to the power. Hopefully this means I can replace and soldier on? I'm out to find some fuses. I read someone say that 10A is a better choice - thoughts?
