Re: HE280 Hot End and Probe board on RMAX v2

Actually, a word of warning - shield your wiring in some way from rubbing on the edge of the board. Printed and did a quick test fit, and when I print at the back of the bed (with how my wires are oriented, yours may be different) the wires rub along the board. I can tell you from experience it WILL...

Re: New Accel Board on a v2, without the HE280

I'm sure others will get far more creative with it - both in how it's mounted (713maker says they have a new wiring retainer coming out that will include a way to attach the accelerometer) and in how they work with it in firmware. I just wanted to get out there what I found for a bare bones method t...

Re: New Accel Board on a v2, without the HE280

It's just gcode, so yeah. I run it from octoprint. Side note: by default octoprint will disconnect on error. Two taps that are out of whack (due to filament buildup, etc) will throw an error, and cause octoprint to disconnect. I just disabled that setting in octoprint. If it taps twice and fails, I ...

Re: New Accel Board on a v2, without the HE280

It's 90mm/s, you can watch the video I posted to see / hear what they're like. I've not used PEI to know if it would damage that surface or not. It's a pretty solid hit, though.

Re: New Accel Board on a v2, without the HE280

Glad to share what I learned in testing. The "probe any point" stuff is totally optional. I just wanted to be able to do it. Common issues - If the two taps are too far off of each other ( > 0.1mm) it throws and error and stops. Just re-home and try again... that usually means there's fila...

Re: New Accel Board on a v2, without the HE280

Some notes: I've tested this with a prometheus, the e3d v6 with a brass nozzle, and the e3d v6 with a hardened steel nozzle. Works great with any of them. I usually probe with the bed & hotend both up to full printing temps. Works well. HOWEVER - if you have *any* filament leak from your hotend,...

Re: The new accl probing board with e3d v6

I just posted a thread I'd been working on for a while, just hadn't got it completed. Read through it, and have fun. That's my picture, I've been running it for a couple months now. I cut through my hotend wires and killed the heat cartridge. And I have broken the accel wires more than once now. (wh...

New Accel Board on a v2, without the HE280

I was lucky enough to con SeeMeCNC into letting me test, so I've been running the accel board on my v2 with an e3d v6 for a while now. Here's my experience and what to watch for. 1 - wiring. Run some stranded cat 5 or cat 6. You need 5 wires total. 3 for the I2C, and two for power. The connections w...

Re: The new accl probing board with e3d v6

I think probably what he saw was my e3d v6, with a 713maker mount, and the new accel board. A single nylon spacer is all you need, and it works fine. You want to insulate your wiring, or the edge of the accel board can rub them and cut into them eventually. ...

May be better to take this to PM, not sure, but may help others to have it here. Completely new to this so excuse the ignorance. I'm confused by your use of the website. Re: HE280 Hot End and Probe board on RMAX v2

Oh, I also find I get better accuracy calibrating with both the hotend and bed at printing temps. However, you have to be sure the hotend is completely clear of all filament, and the bed is spotless, too. Any melted filament will cause your doduble-tap probe to fail with too great of a variation bet...

Re: HE280 Hot End and Probe board on RMAX v2

Here's a pic of it above my E3D v6, when I had my extruder in a "flying" config - I've since switched away from that, but haven't changed how I mount the probe. Just a cheap nylon spacer to provide some clearance for my hotend wires.

Brian - if you need a hand with the wiring, or firmware, I can help you out. Send me a message and I'd be happy to. As for using it with a v6, yes you can. I have it mounted above mine, using one of the top screws on my 713maker hotend mount to hold it in place, the bowden is routed through the midd...

Re: LACK of v2->v3 buyers remorse?

The accelerometer code is ONLY in the branch of repetier from seemecnc, here: https://github.com/seemecnc/Firmware And I don't think that branch will run on a 32 bit board. The code could probably be ported, but AFAIK, that's the only place it currently exists. If/when it's on a duet or smoothie, I'...

Re: LACK of v2->v3 buyers remorse?

I haven't seen anything about which is more reliable. The accelerometer measures down to +/- 0.01mm in my testing every time (provided you've cleared the nozzle and bed completely of any filament, any at all throws it off, obviously). And that's using mechanical endstop switches, too. The biggest th...

Re: E3D Titan on E3D V6?

I'm still using my titan, but switched away from the "flying extruder" configuration. The extra mass swinging was producing some print artifacts at higher speeds, and some slight effector tilt. I currently have my extruder "mounted" using the bungie cords still, so it's about 1/3...

Re: LACK of v2->v3 buyers remorse?

You can definitely add auto bed levelling to a v2. The code is in the new unified firmware branch on github, and connecting the accelerometer probe only takes 5 wires. If you're not using the new seemecnc hotend, it takes a little creativity to attach the probe, but isn't that bad. You could mount i...

I think I'm going to add some external channels for my wires, and re-wire everything to go through them. It won't look as clean, but will be much more serviceable.
