I sooo feel your pain! I was four hours into a six hour print when Windows decided to do an update! @%&$%!! Granted it's my fault for not having the updates setting in the correct mode, but still...$%&@! I really should be using the SD card, but I like having the immediate control of the hos...

Re: My try at: The Open Hand Project
I did multiples of the spool, the tensioners, and the finger joints. I also printed some with "coarse support" (KISSlicer) the finger motor brackets, the thumb cover and servo bracket. Everything else was one stl at a time.teoman wrote:How many parts did you print at once?

Re: Help with printing a part
I agree with Polygonhell, maybe not FDM for this. My first thought is, why in one piece? I know we have the ability to print very complex geometries. I too like the "all at once cool factor 8-) " but beating my head against a wall trying to do it seems counter-productive. Sometimes I think...

First, Welcome tbone atl! Congrats on purchasing the RMax. I use Netfabb basic for this. Look at this tutorial on trimming a flat base. You don't have to do the deleting and repairing part. (Although that comes in handy too) http://www.3dgeni.us/trimming-objects-with-netfabb-studio-basic/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You can just...

Re: TPU Filament
Having run my Filastruder for a while now. I can hold +/- .02mm. I would definitely shoot for under tolerance rather than over. If you go over too much the spool will be unusable:( Where as an under tolerance can be accounted for in software. Consistency is the key. Good luck with the trials! Let us...

It's called a collet and I think you're on to a good idea. I still think threading on the tube itself with matching fittings is the answer. If you look at this thread http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=4272&p=29413&hilit=fitting+helicoil#p29413" onclick="window.open...

I donated a Printrbot jr. V1 to the art department of our high school. It was amazingly hard to do :? Going through all the approval process takes a fair amount of time. Re: Hotend too cold, I think.
It sounds like your hot end is not heating enough. Can you check its temp independently with a thermocouple on your multimeter? That would be my first check, and a critical piece of knowledge to extrude properly. Worth every penny, even if you have to buy a new meter with thermocouple. If not that. ...

Thanks Michael and John! This is exactly the input I'm looking for. :D It sounds like PEI is the most versatile. I'm definitely looking for a heated solution. Right now I print mostly ABS, but Nylon and others are within reach. I just added an E3d hotend. :D So I'll probably wind up with several sur...

I'm considering changing my build surface from glass to one of the new "exotic" surfaces. But which one? PEI? BuildTak? GeckoTek? PRINTinZ Printer Plate? As usual there is a lot of good info on the forum. I read it all. But this area seems to be blossoming with confusing choices as of late...

MatterControl 1.1 and Image Convertor Released
Looks like development is moving along. I purchased the image converter. It seems to work as promised :) (early adopters get it for $15, it will be $25) Haven't tried "Matterslice" yet, that's on the to do list. 8-) http://www.3dprinterworld.com/article/mattercontrol-11-and-image-convertor...
