Re: Installing cork stepper dampers

I bought cork dampers and used small rubber and flat washers. Honestly I didn't notice much of a difference. There is less vibration though.

For what it's worth, on another I built overseas, we had some folks make rubber gaskets out of tires. Those seemed to be a little bit more quiet.

Re: Build surface...which one?

I've tried PEI and BuildTak. See the PEI thread for my comments. I won't use it. True enough, it is wonderful for PLA but it can stick too much for ABS. Same with PEI I think. As John Oly recommends, I am going to try simple Window Tint. It's cheap. I like the idea of having a surface that's removab...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I think it is something more basic. If I missed it, have you considered reflashing your EEProm with some base settings? There is a small script in the IDE that will allow you to reset the firmware back to it's base 2560 settings. Use it. Then reload a fresh config. It doesn't make sense that you're ...

Re: E3D Release New Version 6 of HotEnd.

So I'm wondering, but is there any advantages to the V6 over the V5 for printing ABS? It seems everyone has been talking about the changes improving the ability to print PLA, however I never print PLA and never intend to so PLA printing ability isn't of any real concern to me, and with the V6's out...

I would sell it if you can't devote the time. Orions print right out of the box - you might have to update the software sometime in the future; however, it would reduce your time investment.

You can probably get $800 for your open box version.

Change your tagline to include the link! Personally, I'm happy that others are selling the machine. You've got a mostly green field in AU - so good on you! I'm also happy that you're making a contribution to the forum - as well as selling something (instead of, errr.....others.) The site's great. Wo...

As for Darths lawyers, they are far more busy trying to concur the universe than worrying about a give away.

My personal suggestion is that you buy a Rostock and contribute as a member to this forum. Every post you have made (5, so far) is to sell filament. Having a drawing is great, posting your projections about the industry is great - but this is actually a forum. People come here for help and to share ...

Re: Opinion on something that might ultimately help this for

So here is the debate statement and question: FAQs are expert posts. In other words, they are the correct way to do something - mostly likely asked over and over again. To summarize: Forums are made up by community members who post. Wikis are generally crowdsourced as well. Moderators moderate. FAQ...

If you have a standard heater block like the E3D and make it screw into a ceramic head piece that's a 1" cylinder with a 1.75mm hole down the center, wouldn't that solve the world's ills? Seems to me, all you would have to worry about is how brittle the ceramic is.

My take is that they're an evil alliance set on destroying our predefined notions about making as it pertains to 3D printing and replication. What makes them unique is their access to other makers and maker resources. Who knew that being centered around the epicenter of the RV industry would have su...
