Hmm, I just missed the touchdown while filming... ;-)
I have another print running right now, so it will have to wait.

Re: New Slic3r Prusa Edition (rocks)

Was just getting used to KISS but of course I had to see the changes is Slic3r for myself. I really like the new Cubic fill pattern and are printing with it as I type. What seems to be a leftover from before in Slic3r, is that it is touching the bed at X0 Y0 before starting to print. I can't find an...

Re: PEI disaster

I never got great results with PEI/ABS at 90C bed temp, but it's fantastic at 110C. That was a big driver for the 24V upgrade. Prints stick beautifully and pop off pretty easily after it drops to ~80C or lower, then heat it back up for the next one. The main issue is that makes an even bigger tempe...

Firmware hiccups and more

Recently I have been experiencing hiccups on my printer... When I reload the GUI page, sometimes (not always) the printer stops for a second. Also I found the progress-bar in the GUI non-responsive after starting a print. A reload fixes that, that's why I am reloading in the first place. Also I have...

Re: PEI disaster

I have another disaster to mention :( I am using PEI on glass for a while now, and it works good, but not as well as I hoped. I have been upping bed temp to 90 to avoid ABS prints to curl up. Small parts no problem, but things like enclosure brackets are still curling up at 90C. To prevent that I ha...

Hard to tell... If you take the tensioner arm out, it will show an angle. If you put in in the molded skate, the angle must follow the housing. I can imagine that some people think the tension will be higher if you reverse it, and it is... it can break.

disassemble one of those dumb-bells-bars and turn them over left to right, so that each ball sits on the other side of the tower. Assemble again and re-measure. If the outcome is different, there is a problem with the balls. if the outcome is the same there is a problem with the injectionmolded skat...

Re: Repetier firmware for RoMax V2

I think this could be caused by default values in the firmware that do not take your specific setup into account. When you start the machine, what are the temps without starting any heater? Does that show some "real life" values? Like 20C for ambient temp? And if you start a heater, does t...

Thought about that, but would the border between rough and smooth not be smeared over a longer distance? I' try rotating the bed to see if the pattern follows.

Rough areas in my 1st layer

I am having this issue where smaller areas in a large first layer seem to be very rough, while other areas look really great. When the second layer goes over the rough areas, most of the roughness disappears under the second layer and is not visible anymore. Adhesion of the first (and second) layer ...

if you just home through a G28 in the gcode window, does it behave the same?
I am hinting on some sort of gcode script for homing that gets calles when pushing the home button in MatterControl, that might accidently disable the endstopswitches... Also you can try homing through the LCD panel menu.

Re: First few layers linearly shift

Stepperdrivers can get very hot when they get overcurrent. A sink can help preventing overheat. But in reality, if the steppers on your rambo cannot be touched without burning your finger, you have too much current on the motors. That does not explain however, why only the lower layers would shift. ...

QDeathStar suggested that, by dual extrusion, there would be different colors in your print. But I recognized indeed that there was only a bit different shade because of the lower thickness of the ornament, despite my colorblindness ;-)

Re: Z height unstable w/ Duet/FSR setup

I have now eliminated any possible binding/drag with my new mounting system. Can't wait to see! I also put the JohnSL behind the acrylic panel Yes, the pins really should extend to the other side of the board to make that easier. I contacted ultimaker about that, but ofcourse they never heard that ...

Re: #define ZAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM

Believe it or not, Marlin accepts different steps/mm for different towers. Repetier, in its infinite wisdom, won't let you set individual steps/mm for each tower. The only way I've found is to set the tension such that all the motors move the same amount. Are you sure Marlin has that option? Or doe...

Re: PEI disaster

Yes, the 3M adhesive is a real pain, because it is very unstable and has no structure on it's own. I advise you to put it on the glas first, and after drying an extended time (at least overnight!) apply the PEI to the glued glass. The glass gives the glue-film the needed stability to succesfull adhe...

Move the cariages down until the HE just not touches the bed. Home and with one finger at the power switch immediately push the X-endstop. Check which carriage stops moving. Is it the X? If not, correct the endstop connectors on the controller. If so, rerun for Y and Z. Of course you can determine t...

Re: Z height unstable w/ Duet/FSR setup

Nice of you to close this ;-) Since I am on Duet 0.6 I have absolutely no need for stepper dampers anymore. Higher version seem to do even better reducing the stepper noise. Yes slipping pulleys are easily overlooked indeed, and it is a pain to fasten them (if you don't have a long enough wrench!) M...
