Wear and Tear on the 8 pin connector of the HE280

Post by sithslayer78 »

Hey guys, does anyone have a solution if the connector on the HE280 PCB comes loose over time? I've been getting print after print frozen midway on my primary V3, and the other two V3's that I work on are starting to show the same issue. It seems that over time, the female terminal block on the boards sort of start to loosen up and vibrations while printing will cause them to lose connection and terminate the print. I know its the connector because when I get back to the printer, the LEDs on the hotend are dim until I tighten the connector (at which point the printer starts responding again). I've tried printing a retention clip I found (linked below), but it only helped for about a month before the problem came back.

My problem is since the boards aren't due to come back in stock till early March, that puts me out of commission for at least a month. Even then, without a solution, I'd just expect it to keep happening, and with the stock being as low as it is, I not sure if it's worth the hassle. At this point, I'm thinking of converting back to a V2 setup and doing the bed leveling manually, or with another probe like a BLtouch that I can get parts for.

You could try moving where the bowden exits the mesh loom in order to give the whip end more slack. If that doesn't work, there's no real harm in a little hot glue. ;) It should hold it well enough and still be removable if you needed to.
