RailCoreII 300ZL Released!

Post by kraegar »

Today we're putting the Z-Leveling (ZL) option of the RailCore II 300ZL out as a "beta" release.

There are now 4 options / builds out:
RailCore II (250^3 standard build) http://a360.co/2z30VXH
RailCore IIZL (250x250x275, with auto Z leveling) http://a360.co/2DoeHFu
RailCore II 300 (300^3 standard build) http://a360.co/2BZLzTA
RailCore II 300ZL (300x300x325 with auto Z leveling) http://a360.co/2D5OryV

The BOM for the 250 verions are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

The BOM for the 300 versions are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

The assembly guide for the 250 standard version is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wBl ... sp=sharing

The printed parts for all of them are identical, and still available at the original thingiverse link (with parts from the ZL link on thingiverse as needed)

I'll have my RailCore IIZL at MRRF coming up this month if anyone wants to stop by and check it out!

You are awesome. Looks like this thing is really shaping up! Make sure to take lots of notes at MRRF for those of us who can not make it.... ;)

Sure thing - if you have any questions, fire away!

My 250ZL is printing beautifully, it's a real tank of a printer. The 300ZL is just scaled up with some minor tweaks.

When are you going to add the tool-changer hotends that E3D was showing off the other day? :D

Saw your printer on a YouTube video covering the 2018 MRRF. I'm going to build a 300ZL with the intention of implementing the new tool changer setup from E3d. I mean, why not? You guys already went with the Duet electronics (awesome) so it doesn't seem like a huge leap. So, a BIG, tool changing CoreXY with automatic mechanical bed leveling...this is going to push the limits of what I've ever built. I'm excited!

I have not seen your printer or the E3d tool changer up close and in person. Obviously you've seen both, so can you think of anything I should consider before I begin building this?

We will do a tool changer of some sorts at some point. Nothing stopping anyone from doing it first, it's open!

I've emailed E3D, hoping they'll release their setup open enough we can implement it, if not, I'll roll my own.

So nope, should work great! Welcome!

Count me in as a guinea pig on the tool changer. I have begun printing the parts...about halfway done. I have a MPCNC and I'm going to do the panels myself...hopefully starting tomorrow.

I haven't done anything on the tool changer, I'm hoping E3D will share their designs so we can look at some level of compatibility.
