slic3r 0.7.2b is out with support material generation

Post by guanu »

tested out the newest release of slic3r 0.7.2b so I can test out if we can finally print with support material... and we can! (kind of)... the support material is a cross hatch like infill, it works, but is not super easy to clean up... but it does work... which is a definate improvement... only thing that would make it better is if the support material was just a little bit farther away from walls... here's a cleaned up test from thingiverse for support material test

I did one better, I recorded the print on my ustream channel, it pretty much looks like a solid block when it was done.. with the support material being about a 25% filler.

It certainly seems better, but I just printed a part that was symmetric in X and about 5 inches wide, it created support material for the RHS but not the left.
So I don't think it's bug free yet.
