New Hobbed Bolt

Post by WVISION »

To counter act the extra pressure and jam phase of PLA my coworker built a new hobbed roller.

Ended up engineering it with a directional stepped bite in it to allow it to bite into the material but also self cleans.

So far pressure is consistant as well as the pull through my Bowden filament tubing through the reel is smooth with no slipping. I also do not have as much arch
in the Steve extruder plate from the tension bolts having to be tighted.

I will check with my coworker on more details. It was cut with a Manual mill and an Indexing tool. He calculated the steps required to go around and then cut a step in the downward direction to allow it to bite into the material.. It's not quite the same as running a tap across the bolt which most have the ability to do with minimal tools. I will see if I can get the count and cut depth and distance. We used the original bolt but he tested it on round stock to check it first.
