Elmer's spray adhesive is amazing!

Post by daftscience »

I had this stuff lying around and figured I would give it a shot. So far it's the best adhesive I've used (at least for PLA). I sprayed a thin layer on the glass and have gotten about a dozen or so prints so far. It doesn't leave any residue on the parts and doesn't make them too difficult to come off.

Here are some pictures. The first layer on that last print was way off, I don't think it would have stuck if I was using hairspray or kapton tape. Both of those were printed with a .35mm nozzle with the bed at 55˚.

I haven't tried ABS yet, if I get a chance I will test it out this weekend.

I've used this and works really well on any filament I'm sure. The problem I had with it , was trying to remove the print and cleaning it off the glass was horrible acetone didn't seem to have any effect on it. Ended up spending 30 min scraping , sanding off.

If you havent tried this product , Try it , I had purchased this from the start of my 3d printer trying to keep the old mighty abs curl from happening and work great but was a big Pin in the ass to remove and clean. But after the OP post I decided to give it a try on something that I could not get to stick (PLA / Bluetape). Now I have been currently printing both ABS and PLA with the Autozone brand of Bluetape (will get details) both heated beds , Pla 45c , abs 80c , And got great adhesion. Printing Bubbasnow encloser piece in justpla Green abs.(picture coming )

So with this piece (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15027" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) which continued to fail on me , not sticking to the bed in the thin parts. I decided to to try out the elmers spay adhesive on bluetape. Which work like magic , it was still hard to remove but my bed was clean. New tape , fresh spray , the stuff is strong one blast.

I see this being the fix for adhesion problems , maybe using the paper + spray would be the quick method for removal.

Yeah, I never thought about how I was going to get it off. Regardless, it's still going strong and doesn't look like it needs to be cleaned or re-applied like hairspray or glue stick would.
