Removing the glue stick fun.

So, I've read a lot about people trying to get the glue off the glass plates between prints. It seemed like a lot of effort to take the clasps off and clean it with water, bring it back, and do the glue again. I did that a few times and of course it worked great, but I quickly tired of it. Instead, I use a regular razor blade and at an angle pull it towards me. Almost 100% of the glue comes up and gets dumped right into the trash and you are done in mere seconds and ready for the next print. No need to cool down the glass, no need do wipe it dry. The glue just peels right off with a little bit of force. I use the glue for ABS and PLA (never had any adhesion problems regardless of size or thickness of what I build...lucky maybe?!?) so the razor blade has become my best friend. Thought I would share.

Why remove the glue between prints? A single coating of glue can last for many prints.

Another great option is to use AquaNet Extra Super Hold UNSCENTED hairspray like this: http://pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/219200/450.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Just apply a thin spray to the bed and print.

When I used glue/ hairspray regularly, I'd clean the glass maybe every 20 or so prints, because the surface becomes uneven in places with repeated application. I just stick the glass plate in the sink with some hot water, swap to my other glass plate, leave it for 10 or 20 mintues then wipe the rest of the glue off.
Both glue stick glue and hair spray are water soluble a lot easier than messing around with ABS juice.

I use the same glue application for a lot of prints. At least 15-20...more if each part on the build plate is really small.

One tip if it seems like your prints aren't sticking well to your glue...take a dry paper town and wipe off any dust. Then with most the dust off, take a damp paper towel and quickly wipe off the whole bed again. The water will trap any remaining dust and will also slightly re-"melt" the top most surface of the glue giving most the benefits of a full new glue application.

Right. I didn't mean to say I take it off between every print (doh), usually every 5 or 6 prints. I sometimes rub a little water on them and that lets me recycle them. I was mostly meaning just getting off the plate at all. I just use a razor blade and 10 seconds later it's clean!

I use the same scrub brush and dish soap that I clean off dishes with in the sink. Like Polygon mentions, harispray and gluestick are both water soluable, so this works pretty well.

When I'm done, I dry things off and give the plate a quick wipedown with an alcohol prep pad (from the first aid aisle) to remove any grime or fingerprints that the dishsoap didn't get, and then you're good to go again.
