Power supply - Heat bed cable melted

Post by Francisco »

Hi guys so last night I smelled somthing odd and wisely decided to stop the print and power off my Rostock Max v3.
After the inicial investigation I found this:

Possible cause? How to fix? How to avoid this happening again?

When I built the machine I used some pliers to crimp the ferrules, now I have this new tool:

Should I just cut the wire, get a new ferrule and go? Should I try to re crimp the other ferrules with my new tool?

I'd replace all the connectors and use your new crimping tool.

If you have enough cable length left, yes, always cut off and start a new.
Hard to see, but you could perhaps use a smaller size. If the cable has too much room left, it is prone to failure.

Thanks guys. I just cut off the burnt connector and switched to a new one, now properly crimped. All is good for now.
