Noobs need help again!

Post by engineeringsquad »

Are the orange, yellow, red, and black wire groupings coming out of the big fan necessary or can we move them to make space? If they are necessary, where do they plug in?

i didn't have any left over wiring in my build other than some length. Are you talking about the 80mm fan on the back panel? There are only a couple of fans and they should just be 2 wires. That color combo is not ringing a bell. Little bit more info / instruction page may help narrowing it down.

(Possible I had a newer kit than you though looking at post history)

It sounds like what you're referring to as the "big fan" is your PC-style power supply that came with the kits until fairly recently. If so, the short answer is that you don't need to use any wires other than those called for in the build manual. There will be many unsed wires.

Colors on PC supplies have meaning:
Black = Ground
Yellow = 12V
Red = 5V
Orange = 3.3V
